Clinton-UN Secretary General, dead?

What's going on with these rumors? Have they died out, or does this remain a possibility?

3. Can a citizen of a country that is a member of the Security Council be

Secretary General of the UN? If not (as I believe), then Clinton cannot be Secretary General unless and until the US is no longer a member of the Security Council... And I believe that the US is a permanent member of the Security Council.

However it's Asia's 'turn' next. And Bush would be unlikely to promote Clinton in any case.

about 3 months ago. I'm believing that it's pretty much a given for Bill.

Wait, that didn't sound right. He's not being handed the position, he's definately earned it.

Traditionally, the Sec Gen has come from a smaller nation. It would be very unusual to have an American in that position.
