As we continue to kill Muslims and other Arabs all across the world
daily, pillage their resources, support policies that further hardships against the Palestinians, do we really expect anything that "moderate Muslims" say to change the way young Muslims who have lost mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and the hope of living in peace to really take up arms against their own? We wouldn't think of asking Israelis to do that, we wouldn't do it, no matter how wrong we believed we were, so why do we expect them to do it?

1. That sums it up in a nutshell...
if you have nothing, you have nothing to lose

2. Yup
People get the impression that the Islamic religion is a particularly violent one. It's not, but we're getting backlash from our actions which are seen very negatively in the 'muslim world'.

Every bomb we drop, insurgent we kill, farm we raze, and barrel of oil we steal just adds to the feedback loop.

Was it the hydra that if you cut off a head, two grew in it's place? Now we're complaining because we've created a many headed hydra that's biting us. Cut off it's heads!, cry the people, which only causes more and more heads to grow and more heads mean more hatred.

40 years ago the Arab world loved America, LOVED it. Our unflinching support of israel, along with our support of tyrants, support of non-democratic coup's, and general disrepsect for the region, among other causes has put a barrier between us that will last generations.

3. I agree.
The Eye of the Hydra is a very good analogy. The more we fight it, the worse it becomes. I also like the concept of being in debt. "If you're getting deeper and deeper in debt, stop digging".

The Arabs/muslims are not stupid. They see what we're doing. They're willing to sacrifice their lives to get the Occupiers out. They're going to make it very costly for us to stay. We're not talking about the Hilton Hotel here!

Anyway, great post.

4. And to think that what you (we) just said is going to be considered
"hate speech" if the RW, neocon, conservatives get their way.
