DFA is working hard with Paul Hackett. Proud of them.
Posting this because I was first of all surprised that people did not know that DNC was promoting Paul, he is on the front page. DFA is actively working with him, and I think they deserve a thumbs up.

On July 19, DFA sent out an action call for Paul Hackett.

Help Propel Hackett to Congress!
So far today, DFA activist across the country have donated nearly $40,000 to Paul Hackett's campaign for United States Congress in Ohio's 2nd District. By electing Hackett, we can win a victory for progressive values and give Iraq war veterans their first voice in Congress. This special election is an uphill battle, but it's a race we can win if we continue to give Hackett the resources he needs.

Can you help us reach $50,000 by 9:00pm tonight? Your contribution will help Paul get his message out to the voters and help provide the necessities needed for the final push on Election Day.

It will also help strengthen our base in the Buckeye state—putting us a step closer to electing a Democratic governor next year and taking back the 20 Electoral College votes needed in 2008. We'll post further updates later tonight. Thanks for all your help. Now, let's keep up the momentum and make sure Paul wins on August 2, 2005!

Then a thank you from Hackett at the blog.

Thanks DFA!
Paul Hackett is a candidate for Ohio 2nd Congressional District.

Dear Members of Democracy for America,

Thank You! You cannot imagine the difference you have made in my campaign for the United States Congress. Your enthusiasm, support and generous donations have created a momentum that will propel us to victory on August 2nd. It is amazing to see the support of so many progressives throughout the country. The entire Hackett team wants you to know that we are working tirelessly to WIN this race! Thank you again for your support.

Candidate for Ohio 2nd Congressional District

And the local DFA meets with him to give their endorsement and a check. Other state DFAers are working with the campaign as well.

Cincinnati DFA Members Meet with Paul Hackett
Paul Hackett, newest candidate to join the DFA List, attended yesterday's Veterans Rally with Max Cleland in Blue Ash, Ohio where he was presented his endorsement letter and check from Democracy For America.

Members from Democracy for Cincinnati were on hand to present Paul with his endorsement check. From left to right they are Carol, Fred, Memory, Jim, Paul Hackett, Lynn (in Cincinnati!), Greg, John, Elizabeth and Atia.

In addition, this week DFA members from across the nation raised almost $80,000 this week for Paul's campaign for Congress! This is amazing. (My note:there is a DFA code on the fundraising link above to keep track.)

5. This might seem like the obvious question, but.....
Isn't it time to break out the BAT??

I haven't seen DNC or DFA use the Bat in some time. Obviously, it was Howard Dean's invention, but he loaned it to the Kerry campaign last summer (which netted them $500,000 on one Saturday afternoon, if I recall).

Maybe some home runs for Hackett are warranted? I'm spreading the word to some Ohio folks on other boards.

7. Recommended.
I'd like to see us keep Hackett 'front and center' so folks might consider sending a few $'s to him. We need the Hacketts of this country now more than ever.

12. Hackett is quite a guy
Saw him on Chris M.'s show and he was about as outspoken as they come and makes all kinds of sense. Chris didn't do to badly with him, at least let him speak. Saw his female, Repub. opponent on the same show today only with David Gregory and she was the complete opposite, Big Mouth, repeats each word Bush has ever spoke, and was generally rude. How she could win anything is beyond me, worst I've seen in a long time. Tuesday should be fun!!! Assuming they don't use Diebold machines.

13. 5 days and 50,000 doors....I forgot this call went out to DFAers as well.

5 Days and 50,000 Doors
Next Tuesday, roughly 40,000 Ohioans will choose the next United States Representative for Ohio's 2nd District. Though this is a predominately Republican region—we have a real chance to elect the first Iraq War veteran to Congress and send Paul Hackett to Washington.

Can you help? We need to contact every single Democratic and Independent voter in this district between now and Tuesday. Face to face contact is the best way to persuade voters and make sure that they turn out on Election Day.

This is a tremendous opportunity and a critical first step toward taking back Congress in 2006. The special election will be Tuesday, August 2. This is an election we can win, but Paul needs your help to do it:

When: Saturday, 10:00 am
Sunday, 2:00 pm

Where: 1523 Madison Rd
Cincinnati, OH 45208
(Behind the old Kerry HQ)

RSVP: hackett@democracyforamerica.com

Let's seize this opportunity to score a victory. If we win, it will send shockwaves across the political landscape. A win will show that Ohio voters are tired of the corruption and failed policies of the Republican Party—and will build the momentum we need to take back Congress in 2006.

Yesterday, Democracy for America helped propel DFA-List candidate Donna Frye one step closer to being elected Mayor of San Diego. Facing 11 opponents, she led the pack with over 40% of the vote and now goes to the runoff in November. We've proven we can make a difference, now help us do the same in Ohio.

Please help Paul Hackett in any way you can this weekend and help us take our country back."

15. Well, make a post about the Clarkies. I made one about DFA.
I am not going back to 2004 with you. Why you even mentioned it I don't know.

I don't know if they are wearing boots, my dear, but they probably aren't in uniforms.

There were some posts today saying "where is the DNC" and why aren't people helping Hackett. I posted this in response. I did not mention Clark. I think everyone is there, and that is a good thing.

I don't see Clark in the future as president, but I would be better liked here if I did. But I don't. I think he could play a great role in government, but I don't see him as president. Is that why you posted this?

I don't understand the tone of your post, and it does not seem to fit to anything I posted.

16. I mentioned it as to NOT go back to it.
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 01:18 AM by Clark2008
And the uniforms comment was uncalled for - you fuckin' know what "boots on ground" means BESIDES the military.

Mad, you're hopeless. You really need to stop being such a jerk and read people's comments for what they are. My comment was "do you have boots on the ground?" In other words, are you Deanies out there making a difference.

And I DO understand the tone of your post. I didn't remember who you WERE until your tone, to be honest, but I remember your tone now.

The comment about Clark being president is your opinion. I choose for hope, for now. I certainly won't be voting for Hillary. Gag. Not that she'd fucking win anyway.

17. "Jerk" offends me. I made a nice post about DFA.
I think it is good all of the possible candidates are working and donating to Hackett. I felt your post did not understand what I posted. The pictures in the OP show DFA with Hackett. Other local DFAs are helping as well.

I have been called far worse than jerk. Why you had to include the 2004 reference I just don't know.

Jerk is nothing to what some think of me. I can't worry about that anymore.

And I wanted to point out that Clarkies were there in force - but didn't want the usual "na ya na ya na" shit that goes on.

Oh, nevermind.

And, mad, you can be a jerk sometimes.

But, so can I.

You know what? A LOT of REALLY GOOD PEOPLE left DU during the primaries because of bullshit names and bullshit political dogma being thrown around. The name-calling is bullshit and you people need to knock it the fuck off! You sound like 6-year-olds.
