5. voted!
We can make reality happen. If enough Repugs see this poll, maybe they'll want to jump on the bandwagon.

I mean, afterall, they are supposed to be patriotic and all. What better way of supporting our troops, than by electing one?

Who do you like in this race for Congress?

Paul Hackett: 59.6%
Jean Schmidt: 36.1%
Neither: 4.3%

Bigtime! Hackett is up 59.5% to 39.2%. I hope it's a good representation of where he really stands.

9. Well, of course it isn't "a good representation of where he really stands"
The notion that an internet "poll" that anyone in the world can answer will tell us anything about a candidate's standing in the specific (in this case, very Republican!) place where people will actually vote is just the species of nonsense that the GOP wants us to believe about everything. "Science" is whatever Bill Frist or Tom DeLay says it is; "public opinion" is any batch of numbers someone pulls out of his ass, etc.

I know this is a lost cause, but fuck these internet polls. Bread and circuses in place of real statistics.

11. Even if he loses ....
...he (and we who contributed or volunteered) have already given the GOP a good scare on what they regard as solid red turf, and that's worth something. If he comes close, it's a triumph. If he wins, whoa! But the only kind of poll that would tell us about his actual standing is one done in the district with a statistically valid sample of voters.

3. How acurate can this be?
I had to vote to see the results (59-36 Hackett). Obviously I don't deserve to vote in this poll! I hope we're not DUing this poll.

Does anyone have a recent "real" poll? Last I read, it was something like a 5-point race.

20. The problem with polls like this is that
the people voting in the poll aren't the people who can actually vote in the election. I'd like to see a poll of the actual electorate in his district.
