When Bu$h appoints Bolton next week
Will his approval polls drop further or is the American public just to ignorant and tired to care?

2. Iran is so yesterdays news.
No, the Neocons are just simmering waiting for something to happen. They're fucked, and they know it. They may try to take Syria with the help of Israel, but really, there's no way with our current force to be able to conquer Iran. Don't even worry about occupation, we'll lose the war to Iran, unless we go full out Nuclear.

9. Cheney is planning to go nuke (excerpt & link)

July 22, 2005

What Is the Plan If There's Another 9/11?

KEY EXCERPTS:

The Pentagon, acting under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney's office, has tasked the United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) with drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States.

The plan includes a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons. Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic targets, including numerous suspected nuclear-weapons-program development sites. Many of the targets are hardened or are deep underground and could not be taken out by conventional weapons, hence the nuclear option.

As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States.

Several senior Air Force officers involved in the planning are reportedly appalled at the implications of what they are doing--that Iran is being set up for an unprovoked nuclear attack--but no one is prepared to damage his career by posing any objections.

12. Not surprising
Shocking, but not surprising given the current climate of the holocaustic WH.

What in the name of Universal Mind and Peace are they THINKING?

Bring on a nuclear :nuke: destruction of the planet? Non-proliferation? Who?

Man. This pisses me off no end. THEY don't have the RIGHT to do anything they've done to this point.
MUCH LESS pollute and destroy our planet.

Somebody stop them. Now.

If this is just a scare tactic, it's working.

14. we have to depend on China & Russia being more sane than these guys
which is pretty sad.

Maybe they'll just nuke a couple of our cities instead of all of them.

15. what "being set up for an unprovoked nuclear attack" means is...
These guys are blowing the whistle on an upcoming MIHOP intended to act as a pretext for the nuclear assault on Iran.

Why do people say we can't win a war (if we really wanted to)?

Why did'nt $ call for sacrifices after 911 or the Iraq invasion?
I think it may be because they are waiting to use it after the next attack.
Then there will be people lining up to go ___ some ____!

Why do people think that if we get attacked again it will make $ and that poodle look bad? They have us shaking in our boots as it is - with all the talk of hitting Iran - Cheney's lil talking points.
The public will go running into daddy/bbq buddy fast.

And we are freaking out over his bald face refusal to release the...help me out, how many dif documents now? Bolton, Energy, Rove, CIA/91
And only "letters" coming out from members of Congress...well, the Black Caucus and Kerry!!!! (his was meek as usual)

Where are heavy hitters from the Senate like Kennedy, Clinton, Biden, etc. or reporters asking basic questions like, "Do you know who ___" "have you ever met ___" "have you ever been ___?

I know, I know, but...

4. I think Dems should be on TV right now saying...
... "I don't believe the reports. I think the president is trust worthy enough that he wouldn't do something like this with a position that is so important to national security before the Senate can fully check out Bolton's background."

That way when * does appoint him he will look even more like a slimy piece of shit than he already does.

7. yes - use the 'bush is trustworthy enough not to do this" and after he
does it they can tie it like a direct feed into not trusting his choice(s) for SCOTUS.

bush may force Bolton down our throats, but we're not going to let him push Roberts on the country.

8. "It's appalling that the President has avoided an 'up-or-down' vote!!"
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 12:37 PM by TahitiNut
"After saying for months that he was committed to an up-or-down-vote in the Senate, the President, realizing that his nominee might not be rubber-stamped by a dominated Senate, showed that his words are rarely matched by his actions."

(Dream on, TahitiNut. The 'opposition' doesn't have the balls.)

11. This will be
at least his number 2 judge appointment without congressional approval. AND WTF is CONGRESS doing? Nutin?

Jeebus and holy moley. How in the name of gawed did we get to this? How far and how long.

I have been standing amazed since December 2000 that Our Country could be so blind, so lame, so weak and insecure. Just when I think my mind has seen the worst, there is always a new advanced tyranny move.

16. Bolton recess appointment not legal.
An appointment can be made if Congress is not in session however Bolton was already appointed when Congress was in session. He cannot leagaly be appointed now. Of course, the Bush Regime is ABOVE the Law. No one will challenge the illegality of this appointment. Dems have given up their Opposition party status.
