The U.S. Department of Justice has translated an al-Qaeda training manual found in Manchester, U.K, to English, and posted excerpts of the manual on its Web site. But a group of London politicians wants the document removed.

Richard Barnes, Conservative spokesman on Policing and Resilience, said he was “horrified” the Justice Department was promoting “full instructions on how to be an urban terrorist.”

“I hope the US government will see sense and remove this immediately. We need to do everything we can to make London safe.” — BBC News

The Justice Department, however, doesn’t see it that way. They removed parts of the manual which would permit people to become “urban terrorists,” and also said that the public has a need for more information about how terrorists operate, so as to be able to protect themselves better.

I haven’t reviewed the English translation yet, and I certainly can’t read the Arabic original, so if you have read either (or both) please feel free to drop me a note here.

now all the rwingnuts in this country can read up on how to "do it like the pros" and go take out more abortion clinics or minority neighborhoods, safe in the notion that it will be blamed on al Qaeda.

That leaves a paper trail that can be traced under the Patriot Act. Let's just ship them directly to every white supremacist/separatist/survivalist sect asap! Oh what the hell. Send 'em to Operation Rescue and PETA and the NRA, too! A society full of suicide bombers is a polite society...
