Are those congressional votes that close? Are we kidding ourselves?
Over the past 5 years I've noticed a lot of corporate sleaze legislation barely passes-but it always passes. Maybe they could get more votes if needed, but by keeping it close they keep most of us thinking the game's not rigged.

2. Possible
maybe the pols take turns being "against the corporations" to fool the folks back home. Of course a smart opponent would look at the pol's entire record and show the overwhelming support for corporations.

3. The game!
Keep the voting open until it the voting goes your way, then gavel the son-of-a-bitch to a close.

4. No doubt, they play that game...
If their vote is not needed, they play to the political side.

5. It's all rigged
We need to clean the whole place out and take citizens off of the street and vote them in. Until we do that they are bought and paid for by the big corporations.

6. I've thought about this same phenomenon many, many times.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and has the words "I am a duck" written on it's back, it is probably a duck.
