Gonzales clears Ohio of Election Fraud! (Can you believe this???)

Torturer General Gonzalez's Justice Dept. Clears Ohio Of Election Fraud

It's shades of Stolen Election 2000 all over again. Back in 2001 it was Inquisitor General AshKKKroft's Justice Dept. that found no wrong doing in Florida, months and months after the Bush Junta was first installed. Now we get the same shite in Stolen Election 2005. Only more blatant!, report says distribution of votings machines favored black voters because of lower turnout in the black community. Gee, wonder if that might have anything to do black voters having to wait in line for hour upon hour to exercise their franchise? Think perhaps thousands were discouraged from voting and left the long lines?

Justice Clears Ohio in Voting Booth Bias
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Department of Justice says it found no evidence of discrimination in the distribution of voting machines in two Ohio counties in the 2004 presidential election. The department began investigating after voters complained of long voting lines and alleged discrimination in Franklin and Knox counties. Investigators wanted to determine if elections officials had intentionally skewed the placement of machines to favor Republicans. The Justice Department said, however, the distribution in Franklin County narrowly favored black voters. Because turnout in predominantly black precincts was lower than in white ones, machines in those districts averaged fewer votes, according to a report released Wednesday.

An unanticipated 76 percent turnout - with many first-time voters - contributed to the long lines in the Kenyon College precinct in Knox County - with some people forced to wait until 4 a.m. to vote on just two available machines, officials found.

Distribution of voting machines is determined by county boards of elections, made up of two Democrats, two Republicans and two nonvoting members.

Franklin County, which includes Columbus, had 2,904 machines on hand for 535,575 people who showed up to vote.

In the Knox County precinct, the number of registered voters more than doubled to 1,607 between March and November of 2004. But by the time those numbers were available, the Knox County board already had decided on the distribution of voting machines.

The election turned on Ohio's 20 electoral college votes, and not until preliminary results were available early Nov. 3 did Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry concede. President Bush defeated Kerry by about 118,000 votes in the state.

1. How frickin' convenient decision made on # of machines in March, 2004!
In the Knox County precinct, the number of registered voters more than doubled to 1,607 between March and November of 2004. But by the time those numbers were available, the Knox County board already had decided on the distribution of voting machines.

Sheer incompetence or voter suppression by design--I vote for the latter.

5. Sure they shorted the machines @ a liberal arts school but
10 minutes away in Mt. Vernon @ a conservative christian college
they had plenty of machines.

The fix was in.

2. Gonzales was busy finding bias in Boston
While the situation in Boston is far from being perfect, it is ironic, but not surprising that the DOJ found nothing wrong in OH, but something wrong in MA.

http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2005/08/01/city_said_no_to_remedies_in_voting_bias_case/

The US Department of Justice filed a lawsuit Friday in US District Court asking the court to compel Mayor Thomas M. Menino and his administration to allow federal oversight of city elections through 2007.

Paul Hackett Campaign Worried About Election Fraud

(From the July 24, 2005 Hamilton Journal News by Bill Rentschler):

"It is a sad and depressing commentary on the state of our democracy that David Woodruff, campaign manager for candidate Paul Hackett in Ohio’s special 2nd Congressional District election on Aug. 2, is worried sick about obtaining an honest, accurate vote count."

"Woodruff is convinced a scrupulously accurate vote count will give his underdog candidate a majority in the balloting and send him to Congress."

"But Woodruff is not just wringing his hands over the prospect of vote fraud; he is taking aggressive action to stave it off and preserve the sanctity of the ballot for every voter. For several weeks, Woodruff has been recruiting and training a hard-nosed cadre of lawyers, off-duty cops and sheriff deputies, and citizen activists to guard the polls against vote fraud in every precinct in the sprawling seven-county 2nd District."

8. All well and good, but what about the "mother" tabulating computers?
Even if you stop voter suppression, if they control the proprietary software tabulation programs in the "mother" computers, we are sunk.

14. This is something to watch very closely.
Somehow I doubt Mr. Hackett will run like the wind if he loses and there's evidence of fraud. Of course, he's running in the reddest of counties in the whackiest segment of the state, so a win would be as earth shattering as a visit from the Almighty.

7. this might have a grain of credibility , if only
the Repub districts had the same shortages of voting machines. After all, didn't Rove get them out in huge numbers too??

Alas. We need a couple of brave whistle-blowers, along with a willing media to get anywhere with this case.

Justice Clears Ohio in Voting Booth Bias

Jul 1, 9:45 PM (ET)

By SARAH ANDERSON

25. Easy to clear someone when you don't even investigate.
Like look at the picture posted on the democracy cell project. Is it a legitimate activity or is there something sinister about it? http://www.democracycellproject.net

And also, I spoke to Bob Fritakis and frankly, the evidence is very strong to indicate fraud in Ohio. Not to mention the recount was a total fraudulent act.

THEN, let's talk about DSM...which once again, they refuse to investigate. AND TREASON they refuse to investigate as well as torture crimes.

Just call them the party with the blindfolds on and no integrity too!

30. I fail to see why this is Kerry's fault!
Fraud is hard to prove and this conclusion, drawn by a buddy of Bush's should be taken with a grain of salt. In other words, "consider the source".Gonzales only did it to lend legitimacy to Bush's so called win. It doesn't change my opinion one bit. The Repubs had four years to plan and organize a campaign and any questionable tactics or fraud activities were well thought out and erased as quickly as possible. I still don't understand how some people can continue to blame Kerry for conceding. He new better than anyone what could be pursued and what could not. I think these people need to start directing the blame onto those who voted for Bush. These Bush supporters, in all their ignorance were responsible for reelecting a war mongering, bungling mediocre president.

Department of Justice to Hold Ballot Access and Voting Integrity Symposium; Conference to Focus on Election Fraud, Voting Rights

To: National Desk
Contact: U.S. Justice Department Public Affairs Office, 202-514-2008 or 202-514-1888 (TDD); Web: http://WWW.USDOJ.GOV

WASHINGTON, Aug. 2 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Department of Justice announced today that the 4th annual Ballot Access and Voting Integrity Symposium will be held in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 4 and 5, 2005. The annual training conference is part of the Ballot Access and Voting Integrity Initiative, which was established in October 2002 to spearhead the Department's expanded efforts to address election fraud and voting rights violations.

The initiative is headed by the Assistant Attorneys General of the Criminal and Civil Rights Divisions. The goal of the initiative is to protect the integrity of the election process by increasing the Department's efforts and effectiveness in combating election fraud by: publicizing election fraud convictions to deter similar crimes in the future; ensuring nationwide compliance with the federal laws protecting voting rights; and assuring the public that the Department will combat election fraud and voting rights abuses vigorously, fairly and effectively.

"The power to vote is one of the greatest opportunities we share as Americans," said Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales. "The very fiber of our Nation rests on the zealous protection of certain inalienable rights for every citizen, and we cannot grow complacent in the safeguarding of those rights. The Department of Justice will continue to aggressively protect each person's right to vote - and just as important - preserve the value of that vote from those who would corrupt the election process."
