Clark also voiced his concerns about Bush's nomination of John Bolton to United Nations ambassador, calling Bolton "somewhat of a bully."

"He's going to have a very tough time in the United Nations," Clark said.

"When you come in with that much overhang, with all this reputation against you, it's that much more difficult. And all that's known in the United Nations.

"Personally, I don't like bullies," he added.

"Just because you outrank somebody doesn't mean you don't respect them and their judgment."

Says Bolton will have a tough time at UN.  He's got the job, he'll have to produce.  Wes wants someone in UN who has it all, toughness, finesse, etc.   Prez gave him the job, he'll have to do it. The foreign ambassadors will know where Bolton is coming from  He's got to get ready for big meetings in Sept.  Must deal with Iran and all of the mil/dip issues around he world.  Wes would like to have someone who's got it all-finesse, confidence of Congress, American people. Bolton doesn't have that.

That is two versions from people who caught the interview combined. I do not get fox.

The interviewer, Paige, keeps trying to put words into Clark's mouth with lead ins like: don't you think... He denies her the opportunity. She also ponders that now that Bolton is a done deal the world as represented by the UN will just forget and forgive knowing that what we need now is "tough" v "finesse." At this, Clark lets out a chuckle.

When asked about the army spying on us, Clark reminds viewers of the danger poise by this, pointing out the problems of the 60s. He says that the limitations must be carefully delineated.

All in all, a mild, non-partisan interview on Clark's part, by a woman locked into the fox agenda. WKC did just fine.

my read on it is that Bolton is up to his eyeballs in the Plame affair ... he is a primary player in the fabrication of evidence that led to the Iraq invasion ...

Congress knows this and couldn't "bet the farm" Bolton would get off without going to jail ... if they let him slip through, he could have pulled down the whole republican party in 2006 ... they couldn't risk the backlash ...

bush, on the other hand, wanted a place they could "tuck Bolton away" so that they could keep an eye on him ... he knows more than enough to be dangerous and bush would gain nothing if he dumped Bolton ... Bolton would sing like a canary ... this way, bush keeps him in view and has an excuse to meet with Bolton (beyond getting their stories straight about the Iraq fabrications and Plame) ... and if Bolton goes to jail, bush isn't up for re-election anyway ...

the fly in the ointment is that bush has to know Bolton is guilty ... and if that is proved, bush is toast ... this little move was a double or nothing blunder ...
