Reactions to Bolton's disappointment.........
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050801/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bolton_quote_box_1

"At a time when we need to reassert our diplomatic power in the world, President Bush has decided to send a seriously flawed and weakened candidate to the United Nations. It's an unnecessary result, and the latest abuse of power by the Bush White House. ... Bolton arrives at the United Nations with a cloud hanging over his head." — Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.

"The president did the right thing by sending Mr. Bolton to the U.N. He is a smart, principled and straightforward candidate, and will represent the president and America well on the world stage." — Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn.

"It's sad that even while the president preaches democracy around the world, he bends the rules and circumvents the will of Congress in appointing our representative to the United Nations." — Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (news, bio, voting record), D-N.J.

I am truly concerned that a recess appointment will only add to John Bolton's baggage and his lack of credibility with the United Nations. That said, the president has made this decision, and I will do everything in my power to support Mr. Bolton as he takes this new position." — Sen. George Voinovich (news, bio, voting record), R-Ohio

Many more are there, of course the Slugs are slobbering all over their pResidents appointment and the Dems, rightfully so, think it's a travesty.

Myself, I can't believe the nerve and nonchalant attitude of bush, knowing full well that this move is NOT supported by the American people and the Senate. :grr: I can't say what I want to say or I'd have Secret Service Men at my door within minutes.

1. voinovich is trying to be respectful
I don't think he realizes the singular power he has in taking a strong stand here. I honestly don't think he's a bad guy, but I am sad to see him not do something outright heroic.

2. He could have taken a strong stand by voting NO on Bolton in committee
As all these "moderate" Republicans, they follow their master wherever their master go. There is little courage in what Voinovitch did. It waw probably authorized by the authorities who knew it would make no difference.

3. After the speech against Bolton he made in the committee
it was totally irresponsible to not vote against him. As you point out, no one should be hailing his political courage.

4. This appointment
Is Bush's "Sir, have you no sense of decency" moment.

It will show Ma and Pa Six Pack how arrogant and dismissive he really is.

5. I hate to say it
but Ma and Pa Sixpack have no idea who Bolton is, or why he is important. They are not going to get upset about something they don't understand.

6. Yep......
they're too busy trying to put food on their families.

Besides, our President would never lie or mislead us, right? This is America; truth, freedom, justice and all that crap! Many, MANY people still believe that shit, they have no idea their country has been hijacked by insane megalomaniacs.

7. Thank you, corporate owned media.
Without you this wouldn't have been possible. You must all be very proud.

I think I'm going to go have a beer with Pa right now, maybe bring him up to speed.
