Give it a rest, will ya? Some of us don't freakin' CARE just yet. Some of the "hopefuls" some of you are putting forward are literally puke-worthy or at best, tired and old and passe. Used up. Done. 15 minutes long since past.

It's way too early to figure it out just yet, way too early to make plans of any kind, way too early to bother those of us who aren't yet over the 2004 election.

And besdies, it won't MATTER who we run if we don't fix the voting machine problem. If you CARE about who to nominate, you'd better goddamned CARE about the voting machines.

And besides, if this keeps up, I'm afraid I'll overload DU servers overusing the Hide Threads function. (Yeah, I know it doesn't work that way -- still, you get the point.)

Think about something else to talk about, will ya?

1. I don't care either, but why does it bother you so much
if someone else does?

just don't read the thread

2. Thank you!
I think this whole discussion of 2008 is totally premature.

I believe that right now, we need to concentrate on 2006. We need to focus like a laserbeam on taking back the Congress, so that we can initiate some serious investigations into the crimes of this Administration, and work on articles of impeachment.

I am in 100%, total agreement with you on this. I do not understand why ANYONE wants to stir up that right now. It is counter-productive and, IMO, disruptive of the comity and determination that should be the environment here with what we are facing.

And it's not just on this. Lots and lots of posts that are just generally ... flamebait.

7. Now THERE's a cheery thought
NOT.

I thought it would be "better" after the election, but it got worse real fast, like immediately.

I would just like to be election-free for a little while. Just a little while. And I've kept my mouth pretty much shut for weeks and weeks and weeks. But I've literally had enough, and it just doesn't stop. Every time i refresh the page I get more and more and more links on the same tired subject, the same tired retreads, or people I've never heard of and probably never will.

Just STFU about 2008 and your favorite candidate.

10. Amen, Eloriel!
The fights over nominees are a distraction.

If we can't win back at least one house of Congress in 2006, we could elect the finest Democrat imaginable in 2008, and he would be hobbled by Republicanite sabotage at every turn.

People, you need to start looking at the House and Senate races in your own states.

11. Agreed. Let's consider 2006 since we've completely lost SCOTUS.
Those threads are dull and divisive, with the same sorry arguments (and apparently the same sorry talking points).

Let's fix the election tampering problems and take the House and possibly the Senate.

Once again you took the words out of my mouth!

Now if we could just do something about the ubiquitous cat threads.

13. I agree Eloriel,
I guess it's ok to speculate, but some here are flaming each other so early that it is counterproductive.

There are so many issues that need work...not to mention that there is an important election in Ohio tomorrow and a pretty important 2006 year.

I just hate to see people dig their heels in so early.

14. Voting Machines.....
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 10:58 PM by Robeson
...thank you for bringing up a dose of reality on that issue. Anyone who doesn't think that many elections aren't fixed in this country, is seriously stuck in their first grade primer and probably also think Washington never told a lie, so he had to admit to chopping down that cherry tree!

Fixed elections are very much a part of our history. The goal is to NOT have fixed elections. We simply haven't gotten there yet. And those who deny that elections have been and are fixed, are enabling it to keep on happening.

18. Anybody thinking about....
..how tough a job the next Prez is going to have?

The economy is the shits, the war is the shits, the oil situation is the shits, and nobody trusts the president or congress. The whole fucking world hates the US.

The question isn't who should the nominee should be.

The question is who has an ego big enough to tackle a seemingly impossible job.

Everyone bitches about the voting machines, but no one proposes any constructive strategies related to HOW TO PERSUADE THE DNC TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!!
