I finally figured it out why a relative newcomer - Norm Coleman

has become the spokesman of the Republicans

The GOP used to stand for educated, sophisticated men (mostly) from the Northeast and, later from the West Coast. They were cultured and polite and used polysyllables words and would present their arguments in well formatted paragraphs. The party of Lincoln was known for good debated, while the Democrats started to sound like Lindon Johnson, and Storm Thormond and Zell Miller. I once read that many people were shocked, when first heard Johnson, that their president would sound like a stereotype of a hick. (Hey, don't flame me, this is what I've heard and we are talking about the 60s).

Since then, the voice of the Republican party switched to a make-believe Texas accent, or deep south accent. Yet we know that the wealth and the industry are still in the blue belt.

Bring in a Yankee. With his boyish charm and Midwestern label and a bit of a New York accent, Normy can charm conservatives who do not have much patience and trust of "bubba."

OK, flame me for being bigoted etc. - but speaking to the deep seated prejudices in the voters' heart has been the winning card of Lee Atwatar, Roger Ailes and their illegitimate child Karl Rove.

He comes from Brooklyn, changed his name from Goldman to Coleman, and moved to Minnesota. He was a democrat and when he believed that more opportunity awaited him as a republican, he switched parties. He has no principles, no integrity, and would walk over his own mother if he thought it would somehow benefit Norm Coleman. He is exactly the kind of person I loathe, people who try to re-invent themselves for political power.

8. Still curious that Coleman wanted to run for governor

and Pawlenty wanted to run for the Senate and Karl Rove, I've heard, shuffled their aspirations and, indeed, both won - regardless of the reasons now.

Has anyone ever figured out why Rove wanted his pawns in these specific positions?

in santorum's early days, he was always around when they had their photo ops, they were grooming him, now it's coleman.

7. The reason, I suppose, is that Santorum has firmly aligned himself

with DeLay and Lott and the other reactionaries so that if he could ever appear to be a non-bible belt pol, he lost it. Besides, seems like he is now in a losing race against Casey, while Coleman's opponent is not known yet.

He was the only one to take a Minnesota Political Icon (Walter Mondale) and mercilessly knee-cap him. At first they couldn't find anyone that wanted such a duty. Mondale was beloved in his home state, and Coleman just didn't care.

When he was done with Walter Mondale, arguably one of the most beloved Minnesotans, and most respected former Seanators ever to serve, Mondale didn't know what hit him. This good, decent man was depicted as an enfeebled, blathering, senile old bat. Smear after smear was followed with -- Wham! -- a tire-iron right to the kneecaps, and Coleman delivered the blow.

Republicans reward ethics like that. It's their values.

14. Coleman looks like the sleaziest, swarmiest, used-car

salesman on the entire planet! He's what you get when you try to dress up a pig and pretend it's the best prom date in town! It gives me shudders to just look at him.
