could someone please explain to me why it's a good idea for one of the two largest political parties to pretend that foreign policy doesn't even exist ???

the American people want to leave Iraq and the Democrats refuse to represent them ... that's not bashing, my friends; that's the truth ... the Party clearly does not see foreign policy as a significant issue or they would put something about it on their home page ...

Cheney is talking about a nuclear attack on Iran, rumsfeld is talking about war with Iran, even some Democrats have complained about Iran's meddling in Iraq, and no position is taking by the Party ... we have to stand up and tell Americans what we believe in or we are going nowhere ...

i wonder if you actually read that article ... i did ...

the bolton appointment was hideous and Democrats are right to complain about it but what does that have to do with where the Democrats stand on foreign policy? the article rightfully complained about the nominating process; it did not espouse a position on foreign policy ...

here's why they said bolton was unfit (note that it had nothing to do with his foreign policy history):

"We know John Bolton is unfit for the job, with a record of harassment and retribution in his tenure at the State Department. We know he lied to Congress on a questionnaire, saying he hadn't been questioned in any investigations in the last five years when in fact he's been questioned in the CIA leak scandal."

my point is that we may be about to go to war with Iran ... Cheney apparently has made comments of using nuclear weapons to attack Iran ...

does it seem a little bit odd to you that the Democratic Party seems to have no position on the issue at all?

we need to be leading the country and gaining their confidence on these critically important issues ... if you look at the main column headings on the party's home page, there isn't even a column for foreign policy ... many people believe the last election, and probably the next, will depend heavily on foreign policy ...

we can't blame the press for refusing to cover where we stand when we don't give much weight to the issue either ...

we need to hammer home how we stand on Iran, North Korea, etc. No body seems to really know how the Democrats would handle things if we were in power. We need to start staying on message and proving that we are tough on foreign policy...and smarter than the current administration.
