Why Bolton?
I can understand why Bush insisted on Bolton once he was selected (Bush is like a poorly-parented 2 year old throwing a tanturm every time somebody says "no") but why did he give the nod to Bolton in the first place? This guy wouldn't last a week in junior high let alone industry given the way he bullies people. How did he get to where he is and what did he do for Bush to deserve such a pay-off?

1. Good question ... he was involved with the 2000 Florida recount
and possibly Treasongate ... My suspicion is that we don't know half the stuff he's done to earn the loyalty of the BFEE.

3. I am sure that there are more debts being paid here than we will ever know
about..... Whatever we uncover, it will never be the full story.

2. Because he's probably the single worst person for the job
in the entire country. Seriously, name someone who's worse.

5. Bush wants a failure...
He and the other neocons want out of the UN, and don't want a healthy, working UN.

If a competent ambassador gets chosen, people will not see the need for leaving the UN, because the organization does some good.

If Bolton alienates people, and gets snubbed, that reinforces the neocon position that the UN is useless to the US.

A national community that is willing to talk over problems is less likely to usher in the Apocalypse, and cause Jesus to return.
