Revised Paul Hackett phenomenon thread. I meant DLC
Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 07:08 PM by trumad
Sorry about that...It was dinner time when I posted that.

The point is, the DLC didn't even have this election on their map. This has just proven that they're not needed and they're toast. MHOP

2. Right!
As far as I'm concerned, this election is a referendum on the progressive, populist wing of the Democratic party. The Hacketts, Deans, Clarks, Feingolds, Boxers, Conyers, etc. of the party. If Paul does well tonight, it will be a huge blow to the DLC and a huge victory for the populist wing of the party. I mean, it looks like Paul is doing great in an overwhelmingly red district. A DLC candidate probably wouldn't have come close.

Hopefully this election will be a good sign of things to come

3. how will this affect the Party's message on Iraq ??
do you think this will change the position of Senate Democrats on the war in Iraq? will the Party, i mean the DNC, issue a strong platform position calling for withdrawal ...

i hope they do ... i think that would be good politics and the right thing for the country ...

but i doubt this will change anything until the mid-terms ... and at that point it's not about leadership anymore; it's about politics ...

and I sure hope Hackett wins. Just so everyone understands his position on Iraq, I thought I'd post this from his website. Please actually read this. Thanks!

4. thanks for correcting and reposting it.
Right the DLC had nothing to do with the race. BUT they will claim, Paul being a Gun Guy maded the difference...

6. the DLC
has been pro gun control for a long time. This race has nothing to do with the dlc.

5. I heard the DCCC didn't get involved until
they heard how much Hackett had raised NATIONALLY! Then they gave him a few bucks :spank:

I agree, we don't need the DNC, DLC or DCCC to support "our" candidates.

7. the dccc
never gets involved until a candidate demonstrates viability via their ability to raise some money on their own. They just don't have enough money to play in every district.
