Does this give hope that indeed we can win those seats where Repubs may have carried 56-58% in previous elections. We need aggressive candidates, willing to speak their minds. Because if Hackett can do so well in a district that is even more Repub than the Colorado Springs District, there is hope all over this country. We should not say only 30-40 seats are up for grabs. I think this puts a lie to that tale. I feel more confident that we can take back the House, if we just try...

1. gerrymandering needs to be systematically outlawed

For instance, by changing the election methods so that gerrymandering is not even possible, and making such a legal requirement.

They will vote for the people who speak to that anger, who seem as mad as they are and willing to fight to but things back on the right track.

4. That's a good question, but IMSHO Hackett proves how hard it is to win

against Gerrymandering. One of the big reasons he's leading (and knock wood winning) against Schmidt because she's got some very heavy baggage. Would Hackett do as well against a Republican who wasn't tainted - - the party did not originally see this seat as competitive. So my guess is "no".
