Grendell, a Chester Township Republican, plans to introduce a bill this week that would bar state officials from lobbying the state or serving on state boards or commissions if they are convicted of ethics violations.
Under the proposed legislation, a state official convicted of a felony ethics violation would be permanently barred from lobbying or serving on a board.
Grendell said Hicks should step down from both boards.
"How do you tell an Ohio State student that cheating is wrong when you allow someone who is convicted of cheating the public to stay on the board?" Grendell said. "If you breach the public trust, you shouldn't profit from it."
