While the repukes will give anyone a second chance and get behind that candidate?

As much as we dislike the repukes, they know how to come together and fall in line with their candidates, no matter what their faults are. We, on the other hand have to "fall in love" with our candidates before they have our support.

I am NOT posting this to start a flamewar, but with all these 2008 threads out, some are forgetting that it's not the candidate, it's about being organized, promoting the candidate, a putting out a clear, strong platform and unified message period. It doesn't matter if the candidate is a governor, senator, congressmen/woman or anything else.

It's the platform and organization stupid.

1. Well, Biden is going again
He was a primary candidate eons ago, and got bagged for copying a speech by Neil Kinnock, who was the UK oppo leader at the time, I believe. That was before the internets, though, and it took awhile before they figured it out. Then, when they did, the shit hit the fan. It wasn't just a thematic copying, it was damn near word for word and gesture for gesture. He was running fairly strong up to that point, too...

3. Anyway, it is way too early to wonder who will run.

Many things can change between now and 2006. So it is better to focus on:

2006

5. I agree.
It is disheartening to hear Dems completely dismiss a candide because they said this or voted for that. As in any human relationship, it is unreasonable to have deal-breakers based on only a tiny fraction of the big picture. Rather, and if this helps some who have a tough time getting on board, find something you really like about the candidate and work to get that that part of him/her elected.

Paul Hackett is a hard ass that under normal circumstances wouldn't appeal to me. However, he got right up in the faces of these neocons and didn't back down. He answered the abortion question from a libertarian point of view, that government doesn't belong in our bedrooms, and would not entertain the "moral" aspect. I thought that was brilliant.

As usual, those considered to be "far lefties" are already expressing their intent to vote for a third party candidate or not vote at all (yikes) if this candidate or that candidate is run by the Dem Party. I could just slap the shit out of them; they never learn. Only by coming together can we defeat the evildoers that have metastasized our government. It is so important, but they just are incapable of seeing the bigger picture.

I support your bold post and completely agree.

7. A good candidate and organization
A lack of organization and gressroots support will kill a candidate but an out of touch unappealing candidate will kill our chances as well. We need both a decent package and wrapping paper.

10. I don't think that is just Dems. I would say now in both parties,
you have one chance to run for the presidency. If you miss your shot, you probably won't get a second anymore, whether you are a Dem or a Rep.
