General Shinseki
Does anyone know where Eric Shinseki, former General, who was forced out after he publicly said that the U.S. needed several hundred thousand troops in Iraq to secure the peace, lives? His political affiliation, if any?

He would seem like a good candidate for the House or Senate, assuming he'd run Democratic.

2. Looks like he's a native of Hawaii
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Shinseki

Although he did serve in Texas. I wonder where he calls home today.

Any chance we can get him to move to say southern California (former 4 star general, Asian American, and Exhibit A on the stupidity of the administration) and run for Congress?

6. Shinseki is a Japanese name, and a lot of Islanders are at least part
Japanese.

However, a lot of Islanders also live on the Mainland, because of of a lack of economic opportunities in their home state.

5. According to some guy on MSNBC, he currently lives
in Hawaii. He appeared and spoke at the Democratic convention in 2004, urging the election of Kerry. Does this help?
Col. Ken Allard, Ret. was the person speaking, and he agreed with your assessment of Gen. Shinskei.

7. The General
I read on factcheck.org during the debates that the General actually announced his retirement before his reccomendation to have more troops in Iraq. In short, he was planning to retire before he was "forced out". I remember that because Kerry made such a big deal about it during the debates.

I assume factcheck.org knew what they were talking about, but one never really knows.

8. Factcheck.org
Is a pretty partisan website, running under the guise of being non-partisan.

Shinseki has himself said that he was forced out.

11. factcheck.org is run by the Annenberg School.
Annenberg was a notorious right winger. Don't trust factcheck.org.

14. Seriously?
I use factcheck.org all the time. I used it to counter an argument by my right-wing cousin and she told me she wouldn't trust it b/c if they were college prof's she highly suspected they were liberal.

Sucks if they are partisan.

15. They're run out of Annenberg
which is known for its right wing bias. Famously in both 2000 and 2004, they equated the "misstatements" by Kerry and Gore with the huge whoppers told by Bush. E.g., they claimed that Gore's assessment of Bush's tax cuts was speculative, even though it was based on the CBO's own budgeting (they used another source, i forget which, to claim that Gore was fibbing), and even though Gore has turned out to be right, with Bush's whoppers about Gore.

And they never addressed the "Gore said he invented the internet" lie.

They are most definitely NOT liberal, and they're not really university professors. Annenberg is a communications school at Penn, famous for its Republican lean, much like Hoover school at Stanford.

18. Thanks for that information.
Didn't even have a clue that they were partisan. I do know now to look at the info with some skepticism tho.

They opened my eyes to just how screwed Gore was in the media.

But factcheck.org was a good source for when I wanted to tell folks that Clark was not a Repub in disguise. They also nailed Bush a few times. So maybe we shouldn't take them as gospel all the time. But it doesn't heart to give them a look and see what they're saying just the same.

rediculed in the process by Rusfeld-Wolfowitz -

12. He was a full bird colonel when I was in the Army
back in the 3rd Infantry Division (before it went stateside). He didn't seem to be too well known back then so I was a little surprised he made it to general. Regardless of whatever his outlook or ambitions however, he's quite intelligent.
