AL GORE in 2008!
Don't wanna get left out of the candidates list. But Gore, since leaving office after winning a majority in a highly dubious election, has spoken his mind, and he's been right. He's articulate, and I think he's shattered the myth that he's wooden.

Plus, with his weight gain, he has a more "distinguished" air about him.

Al's my man, I like him a helluva lot more than Hillary or Kerry. And I think he'd be a real win for progressive values in this country.

Finally, he's experienced the Bush slime machine firsthand, which will indubitably be in operation for 08, regardless of who the candidates are. I would imagine he'd be prepared this time around, so long as he doesn't rehire the DLC consultant losers who screwed him in 00.

2. Not to forget
that he was the only really prominent Demo who spoke out explicitly before the IWR and adviced the Dems in Congress not to vote for it.

His speech some time later on Democracy and truth-telling is nothing short of amazing.

He looks like a person who actually gets the unrelenting vileness of the GOP slime machine and their utter disregard for the truth -- this quality is the only one I am going to have as a litmus test from now until the GOP is purged of these robber barons.

3. Re-elect President Gore!
He's a born-again liberal -- I think the time away from D.C. has been good for him and reminded him of what he truly believes (as opposed to what's politically expedient). His speeches since his concession have been amazing, he was supportive of Dean (so I think he agrees that we don't need to be more centrist; we need to move LEFT), and I think he -- more than Kerry or Hillary or any other candidate out there -- deserves serious consideration in '08.

All I can say is, how I wish our ticket had been Gore/EDWARDS in 2000 (and that Al hadn't fallen for Joe-Mentum). Heck of a lot of good ol' Joe did for us in Florida as it turns out.

Here's hoping Al Gore will claim his rightful place in the Oval Office in '09. (Can we just start the 21st century over then?)

4. Quote found on Yahoo board
I found interesting, if true (wish I could 'bold' that last sentence):

"You know, back in 2000, a Republican friend of mine warned me that if I voted for Al Gore and he won the most votes, the stock market would tank, we'd lose millions of jobs, and our military would be totally overstretched. You know what? I did vote for Al Gore, he did win, and I'll be damned if all those things didn't come true."

5. I could go with Al. I do think he's matured philosophically
and politically since the 2000 debacle.

6. I could go for that. Problem is that he would not face a country with
a balanced budget, social security surplus and no deficit. He would have to go about the business of cleaning up the repuke mess and not have a country with the boundless opportunities that Clinton gave to Bush.

10. And that is exactly the right reason for wanting Gore!
He really seems to me like the best person in the current political arena to tackle the mess that will be left behind. This seems true to me both because of what I have observed and because of the rampant rumors that Gore was critical in most critical Clinton decisions...

the day he declares is the day i volunteer to help make him president.

al gore knows more and understands more about america than anyone of his generation. he is the best prepared man in the country to enter the white house and make an impact from day one. economic populist, environmentalist, social liberal, and now entrepreneur.

his hellfire and brimstone speeches in 2003-4 were awesome displays of facts, and analysis of current affairs and recognition of the dangers before the nation.

Gore can reach all the major factions of the party and make peace with them.

he ran a better campaign than is CW since it appears forgotten that the GOp throw at him everything they had to recapture the white house. folks forget just how desperate the GOP was. had gore won the GOP would have likely been frozen out for the following eight years.

I don't believe 911 would have happened on gore's watch. unlike bush and the neocons, gore took the threat of terrorism seriously long before 911, nor would gore have invaded iraq without UN sanctions and the full support of the security council

all al gore has to say at the democratic convention is "well, i warned what would happen if the republicans got in the white house and now look what a mess they made of the country."

this country is facing rough waters ahead, we best use our finest pilot to navigate. that guy is al gore....and this time if the media fucks with him there will be hell to pay towards those guttersnipe journalists who make up shit about the man just to have a story.

17. It'll be poetic justice, the day I'm allowed to place my vote for Gore!!!
(I showed up at the polls to place my vote for Gore in 2000, but my name had been purged from the voter rolls...surprise, surprise.)

8. Saw McLaughlin tonight ,at end of his show when they do predictions,he's
the last one,he looked at the others and says:"Are you ready for this?Al Gore is back." Seemed to be saying Gore would run again, maybe, far as I could tell, since he's already started his TV channel it couldn't be that.Of course I remember a magazine(Mother Jones maybe) used to make fun of him and others on that show(especially Tony Moonboy Blankley) for how infrequently their predictions came true.

9. I just put up a separate post about this..."Gore's Back" he said.....and I

nearly fell off my chair! I, also, thought that if it had anything to do with Current TV he would have specified that. This was totally out of the blue.

Gore has said he's not running....but he's been politicking in places like MN and had his first "family picnic" in TN at the end of July. It looks like there's a documentary film on his incredible "show" on the environment in the works. You never know....he may not be running, but he's been making a lot of business connections and think tank contacts in many areas. It's fascinating.....

When I saw the Algore-08 website (which had the AnybodybutBush URL until recently), it struck me as if it was set up as a campaign site. The mail address is a a Mailbox Etc. location, just down the street from Al Gore's office in Nashville. Both are a stone's throw from the section of town where he lives.....I found them all on Mapquest!
