Political cheers and jeers
Cheers to Bob Novak; Novak once again proved what a real wing nut he really is. It was great entertainment to see him storm off the set, and make a complete fool of himself. This was classic Novak.

Jeers to Bob Novak; As great as it was to see him do what he did, it was an embarrassment to CNN. That's what the neo-cons will focus on and not the fact that Novak is a neo-con himself. I wish Novak did this on Foxnews so that it would be an embarrassment to the right network.

Cheers to Bill O'Reilly and Cols. Bill Cowan and David Hunt; I really don't like doing this because it goes against the grain, but these three on a recent O'Reilly factor hit the nail on the head about the fraud war in Iraq. Cowan and Hunt said that the administration has screwed up big time with regards to the war. Too many Americans are dead, civil war in Iraq is a real possibility, and the insurgents are tougher than first thought. O'Reilly said we are losing the war as of now. I wish more people at Fox had the guts to speak out, but I'm dreaming.

Jeers to Katherine Harris; She doesn't like the fact that the press thinks she's ugly. The fact is, she is!!!!

Jeers to President Bush; I know I don't really need a reason but I for one cannot see how someone can be so dense as to not realize the trouble he's in. From the Iraqi war to Plamegate to the Bolton recess appointment to John Roberts, this man has the brains of a kumquat.

Jeers to John Bolton; It's only a matter of time before this guy goes off. Bolton is a loose cannon and a hothead. Bolton should not even come within 1000 miles of the UN.

Cheers to Paul Hackett; Even though he lost, this war hero woke up the Democratic party from it's malaise and almost pulled off an upset of a heavily Republican district. It's almost certain that Hackett will run for some kind of office in the future. I wish him luck.

Cheers to the DLC; Al From and Bruce Reed have put together an alternative to the DNC. The DLC motto of community, opportunity and responsibility should be the motto for Democrats nationwide. They also realize that running moderates for office, and not the liberal fringes are the way to go. Hillary Clinton knows it. Evan Bayh knows it. It's a shame a lot of other Democrats don't.

Jeers to the media; When the Plame story broke, I thought, falsely, that this story had a chance to really put the pressure on the Bushies to crack. But after less than 2 weeks in the media, the story has died. While the liberal blogs continue on the trail, the MSM again shows it's true colors. They are gutless cowards.

Jeers to Rush Limbaugh; Again, I really don't need a reason, but his recent attacks on Paul Hackett were totally uncalled for. Limbaugh called this war hero a "staff puke", and said the only reason he went to Iraq was to pad his resume. This from a man who avoided the war in Vietnam because he had a hole in his ass. What a complete and utter moron.

4. Thanks for the welcome,
But have you heard anything on Plame in the MSM in the past two weeks? I haven't.

2. Disagree with your assesment of the DLC...
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 08:05 PM by Dr_eldritch
They've been rolling over for corporate interests, not moderate ones.

And welcome to DU.

3. Cheers to the DLC
This simply proves the OP's screenname is apt. The DLC may take a flying leap and I hope all you other corporatists do the same.

6. If you want to win elections
The DLC has the formula. I ask this question, when was the last time a true liberal won the White House? Answer Harry Truman waaaaaayyyyyyy back in 1948.

8. Why not save yourself the trouble and become an R?
I am sure that you feel the Bankruptcy law, NAFTA, CAFTA, and the tax policy (or lack thereof) are all good things. I have NO use for the DLC or the fluidity of their candidates positions.

If I want to be screwed, I'll just let a real Republicon do it right.

9. I'm new here, so can someone explain to me...
Why the DLC is so bad? Didn't the Clintons found it?

13. The DLC is not bad
The liberals will want you to think it is, but in reality, there is really very little difference between the two. The real enemy is George Bush, but since the DNC is threatened by the DLC because they win elections, they bash and trash it. Looks like the so called big tent party is a pup tent.

12. Why not save yourself and get a clue
The DLC and the DNC are not that far apart. If you like losing elections, stick with the DNC. The only person your screwing is yourself.

16. I don't think it's ever a good thing to suggest a Dem become a Republican
Edited on Sat Aug-06-05 09:59 AM by Raiden
If he supports the DLC, that's fine--I just disagree with him is all

Remember, we are a BIG TENT party

5. Cute.
But, uhmmm.... Paul Hackett is well more liberal than Hillary or Bye-Bayh.

He doesn't run from his behavior and would not have voted for this fucking war.

10. Well, you implied that he wasn't by sticking him in with
Hillary and Bye-Bayh.

The fact is that Hackett called Bush what he is, a chickenhawk SOB and nearly won a red district, so solid that it hasn't been inhabited by a Democrat since before 1979.

Hillary and Bye-Bayh aren't doing that. Hillary called Bush Alfred E. Newman, in a round-about way, but, heck I LIKE Alfred E. Newman. No one likes a chickenhawk SOB.

15. You were doing well until . . .
your assessment of the DLC. You guys need to catch up. Progressives are no longer willing to vote for the lesser of two evils. MANY Democrats are no longer willing to support the corporate whores who sell us out EVERY damned time! (NAFTA, CAFTA, Bankruptcy Bill, War with Iraq, etc.). There is absolutely NO DEFENSE for their compliance with big business' every wish. If Democrats run another DLC candidate in 2008 I absolutely guarantee that the Democrats will lose worse than ever. We're fed up with the "shut up and vote" stance of the DLC and we're not going to play anymore. THAT is the reality. Deal with it or go the way of the dinosaur.
