Leak prosecutor's boss to be replaced w/ Bush Skull & Bones classmate
Newsweek: Leak prosecutor's boss likely to be replaced with Bush classmate; 'Skull and Bones'

RAW STORY

http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Newsweek_Leak_prosecutors_boss_likely_to_be_replaced_with_Bush_classmate_Scull_an_0806.html

Newsweek's Michael Isikoff will splash a story in tomorrow's Newsweek which reveals that the boss of CIA leak probe prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is likely to be replaced by a former Bush classmate at Yale.

What's more, Newsweek has found that the new boss is a fellow initiate of the Yale secret society, Skull and Bones. Details will appear on the magazine's website early Sunday and on newsstands Monday.

Among other Skull and Bones initiates are William Taft, the 27th President of the United States; Henry Luce, the founder of Time Magazine; and Senator John Kerry (D-MA).

Patrick Fitzgerald, who is from Chicago, has been incredibly secretive about his investigation into who outed covert CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson, and is known to be distrustful of the press. Read more in Newsweek tomorrow.

1. Hey, no conflict of interest there.
I'm more worried about Fitzgerald, frankly -- his health, I mean.

3. Oh yeah, the bushites are
leaving no rock unturned in order to keep bush's brain on the payroll.

Too many people get suicided, though, when they too close to revealing the truth on the bush crime family. I'd have an insurance policy in more ways than one if I were an impartial investigator in Traitorgate.

5. Just Read That Fitz's Boss' Position Has Be Voted On By The Senate
Is this true?

If so, the Dems better raise holy hell.

Hopefully, his current boss will stay in the job long enough for Fitzgerald to issue indictments.

9. Deputy Attorney General (according to Dailykos)
They seem sure that the position needs Senate approval.

6. If the Dems don't go nuclear over this, I will
Can we say, "Appearance of conflict of interest?"

We've been led to believe that the skull and bones assholes are sworn to advance the secret societies control of America through advancing the interest of its 800 or so living members.

If this happens, I say it is time to consider burning the Reichstag.

Fitz answers to no one. He doesn't need permission from anyone. He goes about his investigation as he pleases.

10. From what I read, Fitz's New Boss could....
1) demand to see what Fitz has got so far. And in theory, share that with Bush and co.

2) potentially reject Fitz's indictments.

I have no idea if these two items are true.

he only has one power, and that is the power to fire Fitzgerald. And if he did that, it would be political suicide. but you maybe right.

15. That's a different position I think.
Fitzgerald's boss in Chicago is a different boss than the one he is reporting to for the Federal investigation. Hastert isn't overseeing the Federal investigation. He isn't the Deputy Attorney General.

I'm seeing what I can about what power the Deputy Attorney General has.

13. Serious pressure, funding cuts political skulldugery....
...you know, things that Karl Rove is real good at...

If I was Fitzgerald I would release my indictments the moment this Yale-man became his boss. Or maybe the day before...

11. "Hastert to Can Patrick Fitzgerald?"
"Hastert to Can Patrick Fitzgerald?
By Josh Marshall | bio

From: Politics

Late this evening I got emails from a few readers who told me about a news story on Chicago's Channel 9, WGN-TV which pointed out that Patrick Fitzgerald's term as US Attorney in Chicago is coming up in October and that pressure is building to deny him a reappointment.
As it was described to me, the news segment featured an interview with former Sen. Peter Fitzgerald (R)(no relation), who suggested that Denny Hastert might be pushing to turn Fitzgerald out of his job.

And who would think a stand-up guy like Denny Hastert would stoop to something like that?

Jul 27, 2005 -- 11:29:30 PM EST

Now, there are a few points to make clear here -- the most important of which is that, at least in my understanding, Fitzgerald's appointment as special prosecutor in the Plame case is entirely separate from his appointment as USA in Chicago. So presumably getting dumped from one wouldn't affect his tenure in the other. Still, canning him in the main job wouldn't be a bad way of getting some pay back.
Secondly, though we're focused on Fitzgerald's role in the Plame case, he's been turning Illinois politics upside in the last few years, first taking down a Republican governor and now working over a Democratic Mayor of Chicago. So there's a lot of political backstory here beside just the Plame case.

I wasn't sure what to make of these reports from readers. But this story from the Chicago Tribune covers a lot of the same ground.

This sounds like a story that could use more attention."

18. Archibald Cox, Jr. & the Independent Counsel Act
"Saturday Night Massacre

Archibald Cox, Jr., had been appointed special prosecutor in charge of investigating the Watergate Scandal. When he insisted upon receiving secret tapes that President Richard Nixon had made in the Oval Office, Nixon ordered Cox fired. On October 20, 1973, after both Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus resigned their position rather than fire Cox, Nixon assigned the task to U.S. Solicitor General Robert Bork. He also considered resigning, but Richardson convinced him that his resignation could leave the Justice Department in chaos, and Bork agreed to follow Nixon's order removing Cox from his position. The affair became known as the Saturday Night Massacre.

As a result of what Congress saw as a gross abuse of power, several bills of impeachment were introduced over the following days. As a result of the Massacre, in 1978, the Independent Counsel Act was passed."

20. Independent Counsel Act is now defunct
In 1999, following prosecutor Kenneth Starr's confrontations with President Bill Clinton and the impeachment of the president, the law again expired and was not renewed. The attorney general now has sole responsibility for appointing outside prosecutors.

17. Won't his new boss have access to ALL of Fitzgerald's files?
That's kind of scary as he could warn/inform bush* et al just what he's found or is looking for and give them time to prepare and get their stories straight, concoct lies, spin, deface Fitzgerald, plan something evil and shred all incriminating evidence.

21. Current Deputy AG going to Lockheed Martin effective Oct 1
"Lockheed Martin Names James B. Comey General Counsel; Succeeds Frank H. Menaker, Who Will Retire
08.04.05, 1:06 PM ET

BETHESDA, Md., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has announced that James B. Comey, 44, will succeed Frank H. Menaker, Jr., 65, as the corporation's Senior Vice President and General Counsel, effective October 1, 2005. Menaker, who has served as General Counsel since March 1995, will retire at the end of January 2006.

"Jim Comey brings a wealth of talent and experience to Lockheed Martin and we are pleased to have him on our team," said Lockheed Martin Chairman, President and CEO Robert J. Stevens. "We are also deeply appreciative of Frank Menaker's countless contributions to the success of our company during his 35 years of service. His outstanding leadership of our legal organization has provided a strong foundation for continuing success through this transition and beyond," Stevens added.

Comey joins Lockheed Martin from the U.S. Department of Justice, where he has served as Deputy Attorney General since December 2003. In this position, he oversaw many important government cases, including terrorism and securities fraud prosecutions. Previously, he served as United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he had earlier been an Assistant U.S. Attorney and lead prosecutor in the highly publicized United States v. John Gambino racketeering and murder trial. From 1996 through 2001, he was Managing Assistant U.S. Attorney in charge of the Richmond Division of the U.S. Attorney's office for the Eastern District of Virginia. In that position, he handled the Khobar Towers terrorist bombing case, arising out of the June 1996 attack on a U.S. military facility in Saudi Arabia in which 19 United States Air Force members were killed and hundreds wounded..."

in hopes, I assume, of finding dirt in order to discredit
him. Looks like they decided to be more circuitous in their
quest. This way, it would seem, they can control Fitzgerald
by controlling his new boss.

I don't know how it works, though-- how much latitude Fitzgerald
really has, etc.

This is so-o-o-oo typical of bushco-- I'm not surprised at all.

Disappointed?? Oh yes
Disgusted?? Definitely

But not surprised.
