My wife comes from Vacaville, California and had a grandfather serve at Travis AFB. My father served at Travis as well. I admit I know very little about Sheehan, save that she is doing her best to get answers to her questions about the death of her darling son (yes, I understand exactly how it feels to have a darling child). However, I find the report of her stating that the SS (yes, I find irony in that term) is threatening her death as startling.
You see, while I am a devout progressive, I believe that my experience in this country as a child was much different than that of my children. I never saw the tears in my father's eyes save when grandmother died and Vietnam history shows came on the television. My mother never cried from having to worry that her children would have to go off to war. She fought against Vietnam and was proud to tell me that she did it so her children would not have to worry about this.
It makes me comfortable to remember those days, especially since I miss them so. But, this is the final straw on the stack, so to speak. I can barely keep my eyes open and I can barely keep the bile down in my stomach from this . . . disgusting scene. I have honestly had enough and I have honestly thought this out. You see, I believe it is time that we are heard. Limpballs and his cronies will obviously bring this up, but if they don't, we need to do it. Call in and start it by asking about the Sheehan situation so that we have something to do about it and can talk about it if they won't bring it up. The lyrics are right, the revolution will not be televised. It will, however, be carried in the will of good people that care about saving this country. By people that want only for everyone to have a shot. By people that want only the best for their children. So, tonight, I ask you, I implore you, to respond to this post and begin our attempt to get this under the mainstream media's nose.
It is on us to call Limbaugh, Hannity (who is not even on in this area anymore), Reagan, Snow, O'Reilly, Coulter, Ingraham, any Air America show, any progressive radio show in your area and talk about this, keep it in their attention and make them care. It is on us to email or write our senators and representatives at both the state and national level. It is on us to get off our recliners and couches, off our computers and televisions and stand up like our forefathers did and fight in the streets against tyranny and oppression.
Please, discuss this. I just cannot do this alone.
