1. We spent more money killing people in Iraq.....

than finding a cure for this damn disease.

I should know, my dad died of brain cancer a year ago and I havent forgiven my fucked up goverment for it.

Not because my dad died but because children are dying of cancer and our fucked up country is spending hundreds of billions for their war machine, not for pay raises for those in harms way.

The US is one fucked up county.

2. terrible news. I so hoped all the rumors were false and he would pull

through. RIP, Peter, you were a decent human being and a a principled journalist, which is even rarer in today's USA. You'll be sorely missed. Hard week -- first Robin Cook, now Jennings.

3. I personally didn't care for Jennings type of journalism....

Apart from that, may he rest in peace.

4. Sad news.. Peter Jennings was one of the good guys..

He took a lot of heat from Rethugs for standing up for Democrats over the years -- a lot.

5. Jennings didn't go so overboard after 9-11 like many.....the Saturday

after 9-11 he hosted a 2 hour show with children in NYC asking questions (most were with their parents)

one young teen-ager asked what was he to think when the Muslims and the Christians both claimed to believe in God

there was a black minister in the audience who gave a priceless answer 'anyone speaking in hate is not with God'.....clearly this applied to the Falwell types blaming 9-11 on gays and feminists, although this was something only older children and adults would probably notice

Jennings moderated this discussion very well, giving careful attention to the concerns of children......the whole calm atmosphere of the discussion was a welcome relief from the 24/7 hysteria coming from the majority of the TV coverage

6. also, if you remember, later Jennings was attacked for not being

gungho 100% American enough (attacked by freeper types).......mutterings were heard about how he was suspect b/c he was from Canada
