5. Wow, Dean's comments on electability were right on.
He got a standing ovation. Basically, he said he was the electable because he is giving Democrats a message they can believe in, not worrying about appealling to the swing voters first and igorning our base. Then, he talked about how he was more concerned about what needs to be done with our country, then with saying what is appropriate to be elected. It was really impressive. He really nailed this answer.

9. I can't get over how great Dean is in these Q&A sessions.
His detailed answer on his two favorite presidents (can you imagine Bush* trying to answer that question) was very interesting.

But, his answer on foreign policy experience was the best I have ever heard. I particularly liked, "Only in Washington does sitting on a committee give you foreign policy experience."

10. Did he say he'd try to get rid of Scalia?
I didn't catch that full answer... I know he said he'd avoid appointing judges like him.

12. yes he siad he would revisit the current judges for thier ongoing behavior
something about Scalia's "sarcasm" from the bench...and that cannot be tolerated

he said he would replace with judges with a more moderate view.

13. Scalia won't go anywhere until he's ready to
SCJ's are appointed for life and have to be impeached by a similar process as presidential impeachment.

I seriously doubt he'd say he would get rid of Scalia. I'm sure he said he would not appoint anyone like him.

15. No, said he was an example of what judges should NOT be like.
Particularly because Scalia tends to use extreme sarcasm in responses, which he thinks is inappropriate and shows the lack of respect for the presented arguments.

Dean also mentionned that extreme organizations -- citing in particular the Federalist Society -- as example of such an organization.

Good examples of justices for him: Souter, Ginsburg.

Looking down on him at such an unflattering angle? I've never seen something televised from such an angle.

17. Isn't that closing music by "The Call"?
Kinda obscure for a Presidential candidate, but really great stuff (even if it is kinda 80's).

19. How Anyone Who Saw That Speech
could not vote for Dean over Bush is beyond me. He was unbelievable.

Dean is good the way Clinton was good. Even if Dean loses NH, I'm beginning to feel much better about his getting the nomination.

25. Indeed, he's extremely articulate.
Did you see his comments about racism and affirmative action at the Women for Dean rally? I couldn't fucking believe it! I'd never seen any presidential candidate be so candid about racism and affirmativie action.

23. OMG! The guy in the blue parka just scared the hell out of me!
This is in the crowd, after the rally. CSPAN cameras still on him. The blue parka guy asked about abortion, clearly didn't like what the Gov. said, and his body posture looked really aggressive to me. God, I hope he's being careful.

27. Isn't it freaking scary?
He's right in there with the crowd pressed all around him. When do they get Secret Service protection? Seems like I read that a candidate has to win two primaries to get it, and when does that happen?

28. I guess that he feels like it's ok, so it's up to him
and if the Secret Service is all around him, it'll be much harder for him to be in personal contact with people. He seems to thrive on it, but it can be really frightening, esp. with the birds-eye camera shots.

Whew. I need some water!

33. Yeah, that guy was creepy
but his second question, about what are the 2 biggest issues facing his generation was good, and Dean stopped and took the time to answer him at length. (Environment and deficit)

34. Wasn't that a great answer?
And it wasn't pat. He stepped back a little and thought for a minute, then came out with that. I was going, "Oh, wow, exactly!"

To a great extent, I vote for my kids' future, and those are the two issues that frighten me the most for them. Given half a chance, I know that my boys will have a good life and will contribute much to the world, but I worry so much that they won't get the chance because of the crushing deficit, or because we use up all the energy and don't find renewable sources.

I loved Dean's answer.

31. Mrs. NewHampster Got 2 Confirms after Exeter
Two strong Kerry leaners called the moment the C-span event ended and both said that now they understand and will vote for Howard Dean. One even said her Clark husband was now in Dean's corner.

with actually nice weather in the mid 20s and no snow until night, but I bet each and every new Dean convert brings in two we don't know about. Its that way. Everyone I know thats become a Dean supporter has said they have to help in some way. Everyone wants to feel like they contributed too and helped get our country back.
