Dem Senatorial Candidate from RI looks impressive to me!
I believe that we need another unwavering Democratic voice in the Senate to join Jack Reed in standing strong with the Democratic Leadership to protect Social Security and a woman’s right to choose, to stand up to the special interests, and to fight against the Tom DeLay Republican machine. If the good people of Rhode Island elect me, I will honor their trust as that Senator.

Check him out, I read he is 5% behind Chafee. If we could pick this seat up it would be wonderful.

1. That's gonna be a real tough one to win...
But if he runs a good campaign, he should be OK. Besides, with a name like Whitehouse, he's just GOTTA win :)

2. With A Name Like That
Won't he have a hard time convincing people that he doesn't have higher ambitions? ;-)

3. Cool
I believe Santorum will lose in Pennsylvania. So maybe this guy can beat the incumbent and we gain 2 seats on the senate.

What other republican senator has his seat up for grabs?

4. There's a few.
Montana's looking good. Tennessee's an outside possibility. Add to that the fact that I'm not worried about any Dem seats, and we start looking pretty good.

6. Wouldn't it be great
If we gained control of the senate? That would make Bush winning this election almost worth it.

What would also make Bush winning this election worth it is if Karl Rove gets indicted for something in relation to the Valerie Plame case. Maybe obstruction of justice. Maybe perjury. Regardless, it would make my day to see that balding arrogant jerk go down!

5. Whitehouse is an ace.

He's super smart and someone who is in it for civic duty, doesn't need the dough. His father was a career diplomat. His wife is an environmental lawyer.

But he's going to seem erudite to some and is indeed very upper class. Let me put it this way, his summer home is called "Lilypond". Still he's far less eccentric than Chafee. In this quirky state I'm not sure that will work for or against him.

Whitehouse was Attorney General and there was a scandal involving the murder of a witness (young girl) to another murder who Whitehouse's critics say he should have placed in protective custody. He offered it. She refused. She died.

Unfortunately, the current Secretary of State, Matt Brown is running against Whitehouse for the Dem challenge to Chafee and it could get ugly. Matt Brown has kind of a boy next door kind of appeal but is no where near as sharp as Whitehouse. Couldn't stand to hear Brown talk about our optical scan machines last summer.

Ughhhh. . .irked me to no end.
