I am starting to believe that there is literally nothing. What are your thoughts?

If they thought it would do them some good. But nothing asshole does outrages them if it wins them a few votes. They truly are disgusting.

7. he could run a neo-Auschwitz and wear clothes made from Democrats' skins
And they still wouldn't impeach him.

He could show up on national TV in drag getting the high hard one from Cheney behind him and they still wouldn't impeach him.

His Congressional stormtroopers are at his command, unconditionally.

15. Yeah, they control every branch of the federal government....
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 06:57 PM by vi5
..and about half of the state government's.

And in the most recent election anywhere in the country this past week they managed to defeat a military veteran of a war that is still going on.

Boy are THEY feeling the pain or what.

Yeah, I know polls show their support eroding, Hacket made a stronger showing than anticpated, yadda yadda yadda. In case anyone hasn't noticed, the only polls that actually count (elections) they keep winning. Whether those means are legal or dubious, they still win.

Until we figure out how to do that, WE are the ones in trouble.

I just think that talk of them "slipping" or "losing" or any of that other stuff ends up being self defeating until they actually lose. At which point I will celebrate like there's no tomorrow.

11. I do think they might...
... if it was found--with incontrovertible evidence, mind you--that the White House knew of an imminent attack on 9/11 and looked the other way. No Congress critter could ignore that one without sacrificing themselves in their next election.

I don't anything will come of the Rove/AIPAC/DSM stuff. They're making too many excuses, and they've been getting too much help from Congress on those matters.

13. Wait! I have a scenario!
Condi walks in and catches Bush in bed with Jeff Gannon and Osama bin Laden. Angry because Bush has broken her heart, she takes photos of the compromising situation, and gives them to the NYTimes...

But Bush will say he was choking on a 'pretzel' and was just 'wrasslin' Osama to the ground, and they'll let him off... oh well...

No. There's no way this Congress will do anything to Bush... sorry!

..... if an issue surfaces whereby to support Kim Il Bush woudl cost many Repub congressmen their seats, they'll do it.

Such an issue, however, is very unlikely to surface.

EVERY elected politico is a slave to the polls. EVERY politico worries foirst and foremost about his own sorry ass. So far, nothing that has come up has threatened those same sorry asses.

Yet .....

28. Well, *'s poll numbers are bad, probably worse than we know.
And as long as they support him the coattail effect will happen. That is IF Democratic votes can be counted. That's my take at least.

23. similar thought - but an additional factor needed
overwhelming public OUTRAGE that would be valent enough to sweep gopers out. All sorts of issues could be used were the current "discontent" (low approval scores) shift to unbridled public outrage.

22. If a majority of the public not only didn't support bush = but became
outraged to the point where they would appear to be likely to turn on their elected GOP representatives and senators. At that point some repubs would be in conflict about how best to save their own political lives - how do they take bush down, without being tainted due to their own support for bush policies that are at the heart of the outrage? Then they look for "technicalities" - irregularities that they can distance themselves from... ala la affaire Plame ... or something tied to DSMs... don't take me to suggest that such issues WILL take bush down (they won't). But if enough outrage were to swell up and threaten, politically, much of the GOP party - look for something like those issues to be revived and pursued (b/c they can claim distance from those issues - ala - DSMs - "we were lied to, as well... wouldn't have supported it, had we known...").

24. There is literally nothing.
You are correct. The republicans are nothing but mouth breathing thugs. Republicans have no honor. Worse yet, they are stupid and their stupid ideas are getting people killed. Thanks for nothing on 9.11, you bunch of morons.

Republicans will never impeach the spoiled, un-cute frat boy whose daddy stole two elections. They control the voting machines, and they are no longer checked by the public.

We are so fucked.

25. NO. Nothing.
Not only that, there's nothing that the RW spin machine wouldn't excuse.

If * was caught porking a Great Dane on a satanic altar in the Oval Office by all the major networks while on the phone authorizing murder with signed presidential orders authorizing illegal wiretaps, murder of US citizens, and embezzlement from the US Treasury, the Republican Congress would excuse it and the RW spin machine would leap into action.

O'Reilly: "Some say there's a problem with a satanic altar in the Oval Office. I find it unbelievable that America would fault someone for expressing his first amendment right to freedom of religion. And don't you know that Great Dane sex is a religious expression? The media fascists are on a witchhunt again."

Ann Coulter: "It's no worse than what went on in the Clinton White House. I've heard from numerous sources which I've footnoted that there was a satanic altar in every room of the White House and in between having sex with interns, Bill Clinton had sex with every single AKC breed while in office. Not to mention that the Clintons made more money off of Whitewater than the mere $1 billion that our president borrowed. And some citizens should be murdered and wiretapped."

Sean Hannity: "Well, at least he wasn't having homosexual sex in a mosque, and if you look at the entire US budget, $1 billion is actually a very small amount of money, not worth being upset over. And using terms like murder and wiretapping just isn't fair. It's actually referred to as involuntary cessation of activity and silent anonymous conversational participation. Both of these are invaluable weapons in the war on terror. Of course, the liberals want terrorists to win. You can read about it in my newest book."

Rush Limbaugh: "Friends, I tell you, this is all nothing. You have to look at the big picture. The economy's strong, we're winning the war on terror, and the minor peccadillos of our president - nothing worse, really, than happens in fraternities - don't matter."

Bill Frist: "As a surgeon, I've seen the videotape, and the Great Dane looks like it's enjoying itself. Plus, I can tell you that sex with canines is a great way to avoid STD's."

Right wing bloggers: "If you take a clsoe look at video frame #132, the left rear paw on the dog in the CBS vide ois approximitly 0.3mm off o fthe same position in the NBC video. Nto only that, the font characters in the 'murder' memo come from a 1971 IBM Selectric, not a computer, because if you blwo up pixle 13452 by a factor of 100,000 then digital recnstruction can show that the typeset line is off by 2 micrometers and comptuer printouts don't print offset! And their's been a voiceprint analysis done on the presidnet's supposed 'love talk' to the dog... when he says, 'was that nucular for you, too?' the analysis said it was 100% Bush's voice except for 'too' and they could only pinpoint that at 99.4%, so all of these discrepincies that the liberal 'experts' say don't count clearly add up to one thing: THE PRESIDENT IS BENIG FRAMED!!!"

26. There is one thing that THEY can't deal with. Sex. Not the perverted
kind, that seems ok to them. but regular hetrosexual sex. If * had an affair, bingo he is gone. A four star general just got busted yesterday, for sex. You can kill hundreds of thousands and that's cool, but have an affair, bingo your gone. The Reich would like to put you in the stocks for even thinking about sex.

29. Here's what I think...
When Bush's poll numbers drop below 40% (even in the "major" polls), the Repubs will know that they themselves are in trouble in their own electorates. This is already starting to happen, and when the "folks back home start demanding some answers, these toads will have to ask the questions.

In 2006, either the Republicans will clean their own house, or we will do it for them. Democratic majority = Impeachment proceedings. Hackett "almost" won in Ohio...
