Any Reason Olbermann is Avoiding The Sheehan Story??
Eight minutes to go on his show and NOTHING YET! I started watching yesterday, but it was mainly Jennings, which was okay but I didn't watch the whole show.

His is the ONLY show I will watch on MSNBC or the other Corporate media, but I'm really flummoxed! I thought at least HE would be in her corner!

do interviews with 3 MSNBC shows and they all cancelled, giving no reason.

14. They probably are getting well-orchestrated e-mails/calls from other
killed soldiers' parents saying she does not represent them and is making it sound like their deaths were meaningless. MSM is scared as hell to be seen as supporting this view, and, let's face it, the parents like that still probably by far outweight parents like Cindy -- not because they are stupid but because it's so much harder to deal with such a tremendous loss when you think it was all for nothing. People like Cindy are heroes because they refuse to be in denial -- but that's also what makes her unique. If there is a big crowd in Crawford, that would bring the story back.

8. It is such an obvious story for him to do... in a way it's cool that
he doesn't rush and do it. Let someone else run with the ball. There is plenty of time for this pot of chili to cook and it's not going away. Much cooler to wait till there is a stand off or wait till there is some real tension. My take on it. Plus it's summer... and no election deadline is in sight.

Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 08:14 PM by doublethink
But tonight I did, bout 35 to 40 minutes into the show. Click TV off. Was clear Cindy is a taboo subject even on K.O. That sucked. :wtf: This shit has to stop. Peace. :)
on edit: Still in Keith's corner ...... but Cindy is a story if not the story of the week thus far. Don't think Keith 'off the record' would deny that. Whatever the reason for not covering it, it sucks. I'm just sick of the bullshit. Reasons, submersion of the TRUTH, my patience is running thin. :)

16. Will people please give Keith a break?
He's just had to deal with a couple of news stories that have hit home very hard for him because of his own cancer scare just this past week. I imagine if it happened to you, you might have other things on your mind now as well.

Sheesh, it reminds me of someone I know whose boss chewed her out the day after she learned she was going to need a biopsy. She had made some kind of mistake at work, because she was distracted mentally, and the boss gave her hell for it. Worse, he KNEW what she was going through.

OK, I'm a KO fan, but I felt I just had to say this. Cindy Sheehan is a story, but she is one of many. And didn't anyone notice tonight that he mentioned how the polls for support of the war are dropping, and that Bush's disapproval rating is staying steady?

Sheesh. He shows 20 seconds of the Runaway Bride mowing a lawn (just so he can thoroughly ridicule it up one side and down the other, as but one of several stories he usually has fun with every night) and all of a sudden to some of you he's a whore of the MSM. Would some consideration be too much to ask for before you condemn him wholesale? I hope not.

Save your venom for the likes of Rita Cosby, whose big stories of the night have to do with Michael Jackson, a kid who shot his teacher, etc. Now THAT's crap.

17. I don't even know if we get the KO show here (Direct TV?)
But the topic of his latest blog post - "Flush the Butts", suggests that he would like to warn Americans about the possible consequences of tobacco usage, using both Peter Jennings and himself as examples:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240/

Perhaps he had a message to send for just one day that felt more compelling.

20. I agree with you.
He gave a long speech the other night about his experience with a benign tumor being removed from the roof of his mouth (due to cigar smoking) and living for 5 days not knowing what the biopsy would reveal. He made a passionate appeal to smokers to quit. All this week, hd will give info on qutting strategies. Peter Jennings death shook him up, and he talked about Dana Reeve's lung cancer.

I have faith in Keith that he will come through for Cindy.

21. Maybe he is.
Keith is usually pretty good with his timing. He hasn't let us down before.

I see nothing wrong with allowing him to get on the anti-tobacco soapbox, even if it takes him a while to spread back out to all the rest of the news. He's earned it...the hard way, a way nobody ever wants to have to earn it. And if you don't believe that, read his blog...and ask yourself if, had that been the story of the past week of your life, Cindy Sheehan would be number one on your mind now either.

22. It is simple. When you get paid as much money as he does, you
do what your employers tell you to do. Or you do not have a job. If his higher ups tell him not to mention the protesting of the war criminal in chief. Then by god he better comply or he won`t work as a media prostitute of any caliber again. It sure makes sense to me. And it did not take many brain cells to figure it out.

25. Attacking Olbermann is easy, and innappropriate
Attempting to paint Keith Olbermann as merely an instrument of his 'corporate masters' because he 'failed' to present Cindy Sheehan as the lead topic is simply wrong.

As I stated previously, he had a very real, personal issue: tobacco-induced cancer, and he described it's effects plainly.

He was the main source of information about 2004 election fraud, next to BBV.

He's been spitting blood into a trashcan after an operation on the roof of his mouth to remove a tobacco habit induced tumor. And keeping the blog updated despite the pain and the mess. This to let his readers know of the danger of tobacco.

For Christ's sake, people, give the guy one day off, maybe 30, without the crucifiction. He will be back, and certainly, Cindy Sheehan will be rightfully featured.

26. I`ve watched Keith Olbermann many times. He paints himself as an
insturment of his `corporate masters` just for what he leaves out of his stories. As I stated before if his health concerns are so he cannot do his job. Then he should let the corrupt corporation he works for put a replacement on the air. I followed his election fraud 2004 coverage and found it milqtoast at best. I learned about the dangers of tobbaco years ago. I want the truth about why my 2nd cousin was sent to Iraq for the 2nd time. Based on a bunch of corporate promoted Bu$h Inc. lies. Right Now! Not 30 days from now. Keep Jesus Christ out of this please he died 2000 years ago. And if his words marked in red in the bible meant anything to our leaders that call themselves Christians. Keith Olbermann would have done an excellent piece on the rank hypocrisy of the faux Christian repukes in charge of our country. But of course if he had done that he would have been fired on the spot. But still that would have been real journalism. Which in my opinion Keith Olbermann is not a real journalist.

The "news" networks (ESPECIALLY NBC, owned by weapons-builder General Electric) have closed ranks for bu$hler. This is the most BLATANT example of pro-White House bias that I have seen in thirty years of observing the media from the inside.

The stench of COLLUSION is everywhere.

Edited to add: I am not blaming Olbermann; nothing gets onto his show unless HQ says so. He could cover the story exactly once.

28. It's totally perplexing!
Politics aside...this is a great story...why wouldn't they all jump on it.

My only hope is that this story needs to be driven by the people. Right now there aren't a huge amount of people in Crawford. Should we rely on the media making it big...then it would be the liberal media that drove the story. Should we rely on our dem leaders...then it would be about "politics". Maybe this thing needs to get big in natural order...where the people themselves make it grow so big it can't be ignored.

We've always counted on the media even though they constantly let us down. Same with our dem leaders. (Most of them.) Why not take responsibility for it and each of us, in our own way, make as much noise about it as we can. Whether you go there or send money, cards...write or e-mail everyone...do something until the ripple turns into a tidal wave.

Just a thought...
