I would have bet a bunch on his withdrawal . . . but I was a young, naive grasshopper.
edit: Clarence Thomas that is.

1. Probably all came down to a DC Video Rental Place Manager |
|
...deciding not to leak the records of Thomas's video "interests".
I wouldn't doubt it. If Anita had a someone vouch for her testimony he would have been tanked.
What I find interesting about all these "famous" people is there are all kinds of "little people" who could probably destroy them if they yakked or leaked info.

2. As I remember it, he appeared before the senate and there was |
|
a lot of testimony against him. So the senate slapped women in the face and voted for him anyway.
I was working in an office where the boss hated women and minorities. He use to make comments which were very inappropriate for an office. Some of the guys were making comments about how Thomas was probably telling the truth and really never said those things. I asked them if they remembered when our boss said "whatever". They didn't remember. I asked a couple more times if they remembered things he said. Men seem to have a short memory about sexual comments against women. In one ear and out the other. Meanwhile we women remember how some men can be real creeps.
