Roberts - Not fascist enough for one group of conservatives
Upon discovering that John Roberts once helped to overthrow a Colorado initiative that would have led to discrimination against gays, the Conservative Group, Public Advocate of the United States, has pulled their support. "We can't take our limited resources and put it toward a candidate who is not a strict constructionist, when we told he is" a group spokesman said.

Per conservative rationale, using the constitution to discriminate against a distinct group of law abiding tax paying citizens is what "strict constructionists" will do?!?

How incredibly sad it must be to be them. When there are so many more legitimate reasons to oppose the nomination they have to go and take their sheets off in public.

1. "they have to go and take their sheets off in public" lol
That is the only consolation of the bush regime -- all the exposure.
Cockroaches hate exposure, for good reason.
We know who they are now, no more stealth advantage for them.

2. seems like...
...a ploy. the right keeps publicizing roberts' "less-than-constructionist" activities, and complains loudly about them until the left lets its guard down a bit and says "well, since the radical right seems to have a problem with roberts, maybe he isn't so bad." and roberts' confirmation through without a hitch.

3. A strict constructionist
would apply the rights afforded in the constitution to ALL people without prejudice. I think Roberts' work in opposition to Amendment 2 is perfectly consistent with this position. I'm not supporting or rejecting the Roberts nomination at this point, just pointing out a fatal flaw in this conservative rationale.
