Campaign 2006
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 04:16 PM by bugslsu9
"In March of 2003, I told my now wife that I wanted to run for Congress. I told her then that it had been a dream of mine since I was 10 years old, arguing with the television during the Bush Dukakis debates. Now, 17 years later, I have that opportunity. I come to you today to ask you to share in my dream of making America safer, fulfilling our promises to senior citizens, and helping working families live a better life. I am here to announce my candidacy for the United States House of Representatives."

<snip>
"My mother once told me that I am too honest to be a politician. I can't say that I agree with her. I think it is time we not only expect our politicians to be honest with us, but we demand it. I promise you, and this will be the only promise I make, I will be honest with you. You deserve nothing less. The ideals you heard today will be the basis of every vote I cast if you elect me, Justin Sowa, as the next representative from the First Congressional District of Wisconsin."
<snip>

I spoke those words Sunday, as I formally announced my candidacy for the United States House of Representatives. I am facing a tough, uphill battle against incumbent Paul Ryan. That is why I come to you today. I need your help. We must stand up and fight against Paul Ryan, and the Bush administration. But I need you help to do so. I have put myself on the line because we are in desperate need for change. But change cannot happen with only one person. It may begin with one, but one cannot do it alone. So, I humbly ask for your help. Help me represent the people of the First Congressional District of Wisconsin with honesty and integrity.

Paul Ryan, at the end of the last filing period had $1.34 million cash on hand. If I am to win, I need to raise money, a lot of it, and quickly. DU, please go to my website, and donate. http://www.sowaforcongress.com/id3.html Help me help the people of my district and the country obtain affordable health care; help me make sure that Social Security is not privatized; help me protect the environment; and help me provide a quality, public, education to our children. Please donate as much as you can afford to help me win this fight.

Thank you for your help!

2. Nice site.
Not a great month for me money-wise -- everything in the house seems to have gone on the fritz at once -- but I have bookmarked your campaign site for reference as soon as I am in a position to do something for you.

Wish I could run too. Good luck!

10. The incumbent is Paul Ryan
He is the frontman for the bush administration on the destruction of Social Security.

11. You've probably checked this out but ...
I looked at this turd at VoteSmart and it is pretty revealing. This Ryan is a real carbuncle on the ass of one of my favorite parts of the country, Kenosha.

http://www.vote-smart.org/issue_rating_category.php?can_id=CWI75696

FTR, he is anti-choice, anti-animal rights, anti-art, pro-corporate, pro business, anti-civil liberty, anti-civil rights, the John Birch Society (which used to be a badge of LOONEY right wing crap), Family Research Council, Eagle Forum all like the rotten S.O.B.. He is anti-drug reform, anti-education ... geez ... he's a real shitbag.

Best of luck to your, friend, This asshole is a stone that needs to be removed from the shoe of the body politic.

13. Is that the Racine/Kenosha area?
Seems to me they've been starting to blue up somewhat. Good luck to you! Ryan will be tough to beat. Make him spend money on ya!

14. Well actually
Kenosha has gotten less blue. It used to be a very blue collar working city, but as some of the plants have shut down its gotten a little more white collar and Republican. But Kerry still got 53% in the city. Racine should be a Democratic stronghold because of there high minority population, but for some reason this city leans right with Bush getting I believe 51% in the city

16. Maybe it was the Kucinich bumpersticker I saw there that
made me think so.

And the fact that I get Ed Schultz out of 1400 am in that area, I suppose.

Meh. Sounds better than my district, WI-5. We're about as Red as you can get. But the Democrat got 30 percent of the vote last time. Which might not sound like much, but it was better than the 17 percent Dems normally get.

19. Actually
Kind of a funny story with Schultz. We had extreme RW'er Mike Gallagher from 1-4 and some local shows after that. Then we got Schultz and his show was live from 4-5 and would be the first 2 hours taped after that. But because Schultz was kicking Gallagher's ass in the ratings they got rid of Gallagher and now have Schultz show live all 3 hours

15. It is Kenosha/Racine
The district covers all of Walworth, Kenosha and Racine counties, along with 1/2 of Rock, including Janesville, excluding Beloit, and Greendale, Greenfield, Hales Corners, Franklin and Oak Creek in Milwaukee Co.

The only way I am going to get him to spend money on me is to get some money to spend. If you want more info on me, please go to my website: http://www.sowaforcongress.com. Help me beat him!
