Camp Casey Day 5: Cindy Speaks Candidly with the Blogosphere
http://www.radionewsamerica.com/index.php?blog=2&p=7216&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

RadioNewsAmerica
August 10, 2005
Lisa Knappe and Paul Arno

RadioNewsAmerica’s Lisa Knappe, along with several other internet news organizations and bloggers participated in a conference call interview with Cindy Sheehan this afternoon. The call itself was hosted by Joe Trippi, of JoeTrippi.com; Bob Fertik, co-founder of afterdowningstreet.org and meetwithcindy.org; and Jodie Evans from codepink4peace.org

-snip-

Ms. Sheehan expressed heartfelt appreciation for everything the bloggers are doing to get the truth of her story out. She related that the Secret Service had threatened her Saturday night and that she felt scared. She, therefore, turned to the blogs to get the word out that in case something happens to her. Ms. Sheehan said:

“They cannot ignore me now because I am one voice with a million eyes. They cannot shut me down because you the bloggers are helping me. I never thought one person could make a difference, but now I think that one person with a million bloggers behind them can change this country.” She added that Ralph Nader had contacted her and is putting out a letter to his supporters today including a call to action.

She related the she is getting wide spread support from around the world and is truly grateful. In fact, Ms. Sheehan was joined by supporters from Oregon, San Deigo, Florida and the Carolinas today.

When asked to relate her day, Ms. Sheehan had this to say;
“I woke up at 3AM; it was lightning a lot, and raining. I don't mind getting wet, but the tent was soaked. The storm looked bad so I went back to the Peace House. I began to feel very ill with a sore throat and a fever. I have been resting all morning. This is the first time I've spoken today. I am feeling much better this afternoon. “

(This is my story from the conference call this afternoon that was published for our evening news broadcast. It was hard to hear Cindy during the call at times, and so this transcript may yet be a bit rough quotewise until they publish the recorded audio)

1. Glad to hear she's feeling better.
Especially considering that tomorrow sounds like the day when things are going to "go down."

3. I bet nothing will go down.
Condi and Rummy will fly in and out. No roadside "encounters". No police action either. They will ignore her. Their media whores are working hard to smear her. Over time, she will go away, just like everything else: DSM, Rovegate. Or at least that's what they are thinking. It may well happen that Cindy will stay till the end of August and then she will have to pack. It will seem like they have survived another bullet. But there will come the time, perhaps soon, when they will not be able to control the message and that's when they will fall.

4. Drove down from FW, not too crowded (yet). CBS and IFC there.
Weather cool and misty, didnt feel like Texas in August at all. Cindy looked sort of like a Madonna in a long blue raincoat holding a couple of yellow roses with "Texas Democrat" button pinned to them. She has a soft, sweet voice that gets drowned out by the slightest sound so everyone is quiet when she speaks. Mood very serene, reflective rather than angry. Can not imagine anyone arresting her.

If I can figure out how to get my digital photos on line I will post them.
