Progressives & Greens: What are your thoughts on ...
An American Progressive Party that wasn't terribly attached to it's own candidates. In other words a party that thew it's support behind the most progressive candidate in any given race and ran it's own candidates only when there isn't an acceptable alternative? I think it would show the numbers and strength of the progressives and force the Dems to think hard about what it would take to gather those votes.

1. Personally, I would rather see
An umbrella PAC that supported progressives and, in places where there was no progressive candidate, encourage and support minor party or independent candidates, but otherwise remained non-partisan and did not run candidates under their own banner. Such an organization would have much wider support and, without an actual platform, would be better able to find and run electable candidates for a given race.

2. You mean, like the Liberal Party used to be?
They had to disband for lack of support, but my guess is if they held on for a few more years, there would have been support for them now.

They used to endorse "Liberal" candidates (not run their own). JFK made one of his most famous speeches accepting their endorsement. If you have never read his "I am a Liberal" speech, I highly recommend you Google it and read it. It will give you goosebumps.

3. I love the Green Party, but in the US, it's tainted with
hippie/commie/pinko environmental radical labels and won't be going anywhere fast.

A real Progressive Party might catch on though. I even heard K. Harris use the term "progressive conservative" to describe her campaign. This must be a term that resonates or they wouldn't use it.

I like it! Support the Progressive Party! Go Pros!

4. If we had PR voting
I think we'd get more progressive thinkers and be able to pull together on issues.
