Can anyone forward this to Will Pitt??
Just checked the Wilderness Medicine text: the local reactions for fire ant bites are largely histamine mediated. Because of this, benedryl should help a lot (but it can cause sleepiness). Also recommend cool packs.

Systemic reactions are unusual but they do occur. Sudden wheeziness or fainting would be a 911 kind of thing.
