Clinton casts doubt on Hillary 2008 White House bid
2 hours, 50 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Former US President Bill Clinton cast doubt on a 2008 White House bid by his wife Hillary, despite the widespread view held by US press and pundits that a presidential run by the former first lady is all but certain.

"She's not a candidate, and I don't know that she will be," the ex-president told CNN television, adding that it was too early to predict what his wife's future political moves might be.

"I don't want her to think about it. I want her to focus on getting reelected and doing her job as a senator. There will be lots of time down the road," Clinton said.

"I am convinced in my own mind she hasn't decided" to vie for the Democratic presidential nomination, said Clinton, who occupied the US Oval Office from 1993 until 2001.

He added "I believe I would know if she had," he said.

1. Desperately need somebody who can
defeat the neocons and the religious right and unite the country. I hate to say it, but Bill is right. I don't think Hillary is that person. Maybe after the above is achieved, but not now.

2. Agreed....
But that is not going to stop the Pundit Pap crowd speculating 24/7.

They are intent at making "it" so.

After the primaries, if she won them....of course, they'd be all over her like white on rice 24/7.

They aren't even slick!

4. Of course
They want her to run. I don't think she is personally. Wouldn't it be funny if they wasted all their time and resources on slaming Hillary and then won't have anything to run on the actual canidate? LOL. Hilarious.

8. That wasn't what Bill was saying at all ...
he didn't say a thing about her being right or not. What he was talking about was whether she actually wanted to do that. Why grant the righties that?

I have heard nothing from her indicating interest. Biden's out there campaigning like a motherfucker ( :eyes: ) and all they want to talk about is Hillary who, IMO, doesn't want or need the shit that it would entail.

3. What if Hillary came out in 2007/2008 and said...
she wasn't going to run and that she likes just being the senator from New York?

I would LOVE to see the faces of the repukes then. Just think of all the money they would waste by then, attacking her for nothing!

LOL!!

16. Well since she's a major source of fundraising for them...
I hope she announces early that she's not running.

10. Prove what?
Bill said what many have said is the opposite about Hillary running in 2008. Personally, I hope she doesn't run...she'd lose.

11. you said ...
"Of course, she's vying for a run."

Prove it. It is, at this point, without evidence. It is right wing hyperbole only.

13. It's not just "right wing hyperbole"
Look at the pro-Hillary sites...the polls...she is not a declared candidate and it would be political suicide for her to say she's running for President before she runs in 2006 for Senate...

Perhaps you're a betting person. Do you want to bet that Hillary will not run in 2008?

20. so... predictable...
So you really think Hillary is NOT going to run in 2008?

Still wanna bet?

Politics is all about speculation. I assume your logic regarding anyone who thinks Hillary is going to run is "right wing"... your assumption that any talk or speculation about her running is to be not be discussed for fear of being called "right wing"...

That's...um...a tad naive, imo.

12. I think Hillary has her sights on running.
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 09:06 PM by Kerry2008
Of course Bill would say she isn't a candidate, and she's focusing on her re-election to the Senate. Pirro's main arguement against Hillary for 2006 (assuming she wins the GOP nomination) is that Hillary is just using the Senate re-election as a launching pad to 2008. Bill did his job as her husband to deny such a thing, and to make it seem like Hillary's only focused on 2006 and getting re-elected. It may be on the backburner, but I think Hillary at this point will be a candidate in 2008. Not that I think she'll win in 2008. But she's going to be a candidate.

14. I think having your preliminary ducks in a row
is different from actually deciding to run. She looks to be keeping her options open, as do several folks, but that doesn't mean when the time comes they'll actually run.

18. Yeah right....
Like we're going to believe him. He's trying to talk his way out of all the subversive pitching he's previously done for his wife's desired candidacy.

Sorry, BillyBoy, but the genie's already out of the bottle - - don't think we're just going to forget about HRC's "ambitions" and wait until December 2006 before confronting it. You've played us way too many times before for us to fall for that again...
