Why is that so many times Democrats seem to be taken by surprise at the new lows the Republican Party will stoop to?
Because of my low post numbers, people have accused me of being a fake, but I sincerely believe that for us to win this fight, and it is a fight, we must examine our weaknesses and get rid of them. We have to get over the suprise of the Rethuglicans kicking us in the groin.
For example, before the 2004 election, a friend of mine would not believe that the Repugs would take Kerry and his military experience head on and that they would run from it. I told her that Rethugs do not care. That they will go after anything and they did.
We have got to learn how to tell a compelling story that captures the attention of the voter. We've got to sink our teeth in and refuse to let go. I mean, look at the Gannon/Guckert story and even Rovegate. They have fallen off the radar (though Rovegate is destined to return, hopefully with indictments).
One last example...recall during the Cheney/Edwards debate when Cheney said he never had met Edwards before. Edwards had to remember when they had met and he should have blatantly called Cheney a "liar". But Dems are too polite and meek to do such a thing on a nationwide basis, when in contrast, Rethuglicans have no problem calling Dems liars, treasonous and giving aid to the enemy.
