The stress can't be good for him, especially if things are starting to get hot re: the Plame/Treasongate scandal. What we know of it is close enough to him to have already nailed Scooter Libby. He doesn't look well. Maybe after all the bloodlust and world conquest boners and mass murder and torture he's overseen, his health is starting to fail and his conscience is starting to bother him. After all, the accursed snake Lee Atwater called Michael Dukakis on his deathbed to apologize for smearing him so badly in the 1988 race against bush's dad. Perhaps he's starting to feel the cold, clammy breath of the Grim Reaper on his backsides, and he knows what's undoubtedly coming after he goes through that last portal. Perhaps. Or perhaps he's realizing his time is short. He does NOT look good. Isn't standing straight. Hunched over and all covered up in the Texas heat in that jacket when everyone else is in shirtsleeves. He doesn't look good at all.

Vice President Dick Cheney was in Crawford, Texas, Thursday to meet with President Bush and others in the president's defense and foreign policy teams. The president is spending August at his ranch near Crawford. The meeting, which also included Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, has become an annual tradition at the ranch. The leaders were to dress casual for serious talks about issues ranging from ongoing violence in Iraq, standoffs with Iran and North Korea over nuclear programs, and anti-American sentiment abroad, especially in the Middle East.

The Veep is expected to visit Boise, Idaho, on Monday to help Sen. Larry Craig celebrate his 60th birthday and raise money for Craig's 2008 re-election campaign. Cheney is scheduled to appear at a $60-per-person party for Craig at the Boise Executive Air Terminal beginning at 5 p.m. President Bush is also planning his first visit to Idaho at an unannounced time this month.

Cheney's previously announced plans to visit Billings, Montana, on Monday appear to remain on track. He's expected to participate in three events on Monday in support of the re-election bid of Montana Republican Sen. Conrad Burns: a reception, a roundtable discussion and a luncheon at which Cheney will speak. Earlier reports said the luncheon would cost $125, the reception, with a photo opportunity, $1,000.
