Cindy, please mention Conyers May 5 letter and the 500,000+ that signed
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 11:42 AM by pat_k
Do you know anyone close to Cindy? Do you know how to get a message to her?

As one of the 560,000+ people who signed Conyers DSM petition, I would appreciate hearing her mention it. If you have a connection to Cindy, please suggest that she make a connection between her questions and the questions Congressman Conyers (joined by 88 members of Congress and more than 560,000 citizens) demanded answers to on May 5th.

For example, she include it by saying something like:

I want to know what my son died for. I am asking the same questions Americans across this country are asking. On May 5, eighty-eight members of Congress and more than half-a-million concerned citizens joined Congressman John Conyers to demand answers to vital questions about this war. Three months later they are all still waiting for answers.

She is speaking for countless others. More than 560,000 of them signed onto Conyers May 5th letter. Most of them want to see an Impeachment inquiry. Cindy is in a position to tell the nation about us.

Americans are asking whether the President has committed impeachable offenses; they are asking whether it is a High Crime to "fix the facts" and terrorize the nation with the threat of a mushroom cloud; they are asking whether it is a high crime to use threats of annihilation to coerce the nation into launching a criminal war of aggression.

1. Cindy does the most good keeping her message...
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 10:59 AM by AtLiberty
...simple and from the heart...speaking only as a mother.

She needs to maintain laser-like focus. That's how she'll accomplish her goal.

Others (not at Camp Casey, please) can say more...

4. She already says she is speaking for others. Adding an example adds power.
This is part and parcel of her current "laser-like focus." She already says she is serving as a voice for others.

Mentioning the Conyers May 5th letter and the more than half-a-million citizens that joined him (as in the example above), just adds power to her heartfelt demand.

3. You want to kill this faster than squashing a bug?
Start expecting her to use "talking points."
People are responding to this because she's REAL...a mother who lost her son to a "cause" she believes to be a lie. She speaks from the heart and the second she stops doing that is when she stops appealing to anyone.

What is wrong with mentioning some of those who you are speaking for when you are speaking from the heart?

She has a national platform. She is speaking for the hearts of countless others. Half-a-million of them signed onto Conyers May 5th letter. What is wrong with asking her to mention those people?

6. I agree that she should not be using "talking pts", but
she does need to make this crystal clear- She is mad because of the LIES that took us to war! These are excellent exs that will help her to present the whole picture.

These are perfect. There is nothing wrong with talking points- especially when they REPRESENT THE TRUTH!

The problem with the neocons 'staying on message' is that their messages are always designed to deceive.

8. I edited to remove the reference to "talking points"
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 11:44 AM by pat_k
I edited the original message to remove my mention of "talking points."... I did not mean to imply anything contrived.

I would just love to hear her mention Conyers letter. So many of us worked so hard to get some of those signatures. Congressman Conyers has been at the forefront of this fight and I would love to see him acknowledged by someone with a national platform. Cindy has the spotlight at the moment.

I don’t have a direct connection to her. I hope that someone here who does would be willing to make the suggestion.

I know that people on this board, me included, have done an incredible amount of work to promote her cause.

7. You people are really making me mad now.
This is Cindy's protest. Casey was her son.

Leave her the FUCK OUT OF OUR CAUSES.

If she wants to get involved on her own, let her, but this is absolutely classless and you should be ashamed.

11. She was a witness at Conyers forum. This is her cause too.
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 11:45 AM by pat_k
As you might recall, Cindy was a witness at Congressman Conyers forum. As far as I can tell, her cause is part of Conyers cause. And vice versa. It seems to me that Conyers cause is part of hers.

I am very surprised at the anger. I thought it was a suggestion she might appreciate.

I thought that she might not realize that some people who have been fighting this battle and signed Conyers May 5th letter, would appreciate being acknowledged by her in the public square.

10. I greatly admire Conyers and his work...
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 11:26 AM by AtLiberty
...but HE should be the one stating these points.

Our leaders are welcome and encouraged to piggyback on Sheehan, but they shouldn't expect Cindy to be the messenger. By just being there, she is pushing the debate front and center FINALLY.

Cindy shouldn't appear that she has too much of an agenda or that she's speaking for other groups/Dem leaders. Simplicity, purity and spontaniety are her stengths.

12. He has been. He doesn't have the spotlight right now. She does.
Edited on Fri Aug-12-05 11:28 AM by pat_k
Congressman Conyers has been speaking out.

He gave Cindy a national platform at the forum he and the other Democratic members of the House Judicary Committee organized. He has been working closely with PDA. So has she.

As I said above, I am confused by the negative response. I thought it was a suggestion she might appreciate. I thought that she might not realize that some people who have been fighting this battle and signed Conyers May 5th letter would appreciate being acknowledged by her in the public square.

15. Don't you get it?
Conyers WILL have the spotlight on him very soon as Cindy pushes the issue to the front.

The movement of the citizenry has begun...
