My brain fart for Cindy.....
I bet someone who produced magnetic white crosses with Dead GI's names on them for the back of automobiles could collect a pile of money for Cindy and her cause. I'm Jewish and I would put one on my car. It would be better than those stupid yellow ribbons!

What do you think?

3. Good idea, but maybe without their names?
Perhaps a slogan instead: "Bring The Troops Home", or something like that?

16. Why without names?
Some people are still wearing MIA bracelets from VietNam...each one was engraved with a name.

We need to keep the names...and the faces...in front of people.

However, since no all of our dead were christian, maybe a coffin would be a better symbol.

6. I agree, excellent idea. Leave a space on the cross for
everyone to write in the name of their loved one who died for this asshole.

Do another design for those wounded...maybe a leg or an arm with a space to write in a name.

8. How about bracelets like the ones for Vietnam
They each have a name of someone who is MIA. But bracelets have been played out lately.

Maybe tshirts instead.

metal, like id tags. I'd wear one.

11. that magnatic stuff is bad
It isn't clean meaning that when you peel the magnet off, there's dust and a nasty film underneath that ruins your car's paint job... I had my blue ribbon on for 6 days and I could see that dust devloping, don't think iit'l harm my car as it wasn't long enough.. but glad that my sister warned me.... just come up with a sticker for us to stick on the rear window...

34. the tailgate was rotting out on
my car, and i knew it was going to take a while for my son to be able to replace it, so, when the war began we started putting little black stars on it, to represent each reported death- he replaced it back when i thought 379 was alot.

i just bought some teaching 'gold tone stars' and spray painted them black-

i doubt there'd be room on my new(er) tailgate now. and that makes me so sad.

20. Like in Viet Nam, but let's go Lance on this
and have LiveStrong yellow ones that say "BUSH LIED, THOUSANDS DIED". Surely Lance doesn't have a patent on the color, because it would naturally have to be 'yellow'.

14. It has historical precedent...
...though you may not like from where.

Back in Nixon years, the POW/MIA family members and supporters started wearing (and selling to raise money) bracelets with names of POWs on them. Whether they intended or not, it fed into Nixon's covert (through Ross Perot, although Perot had rebuffed the bracelet-making groups) attempt to change media focus from the war dead to the POW/MIAs as a way to undercut the moral authrity of the antiwar movement.

So take that as a lesson. It could be a powerful symbol (and tool), but we'd have to find a way to make sure it isn't turned into a pro-war symbol.

17. Neither are armbands and bracelets...
...but they can get twisted that way.

Not saying it's a bad idea, just to keep your eyes open for ways the Dirty Tricks Brigade will try to subvert it.

30. Regarding the rubber bracelets, how about black?
its gotten so en vogue that the significance has been lost....

I still wear my blue one all the time... get questions once in a while... its basically a reminder to vote blue in 2008, I hear they have retooled them to include midterm election dates and 2008 Presidential Election date. But thats just about voting.

they are selling them at gas stations with no true significance to the colors...

My suggestion is BLACK its mourning color and doesn't seem to have been taken. Kinda like the black armband. Its also the color of oil. the color of Bush's heart, the color of But then again.... some very tastefull metal bracelet would be nice too. I knwo this is sick.... but if we ever to be invaded...we could be identified as the "just americans" by our choice in jewelry.

Wait wait! I got it.... how about a TSHIRT with a cartoon similar to this one depicting Bush driving past Cindy, showing the rip-roaring party he was headed to today.... say something like...

black SUV driving down road dust under tires... pouring on Cindy...who holds that sign... others with signs too....

Who matters more, the grieving mother or the people who own you?

Americans for the Gitmoization of ChickenHawks.

But then if Gitmoized, what secrets would gush forth from the mouths of the rock-hard service-dodgers who pretend themselves experts on National Security interets.

37. Great idea!
After 9/11, I bought a stuffed animal dalmation that was wearing a firemans hat, and had the name of 2 firefighters that died at the twin towers. (whatever your feelings are about 9/11, the firefighters were heros)

Anyway, the crosses is a great idea. A great way to honor the fallen soldiers, a great way to take the patriotism back from those yellow ribbons, and a great way to honor Cindy and Casey!

Any $ made could be used for the troops, maybe to pay for extra armor!
Unlike the yellow ribbons that are making China richer.

38. This is a good idea but
I would suggest that people decide on what they want to symbolize the movement whether it be a cross or what have you and then have everyone do their own--homemade. This does two things. First, it keeps money out of the issue and second, it represents what it is. If it is homemade and not manufactured or purchased, it symbolizes the grassroots nature of the movement.

39. I agree
I was thinking about a similar thing as the OP, but more in line with your sentiments... our sentiments.

How 'bout recycling the crappy yellow ribbons and drawing "Support Cindy Sheehan" or a new slogan of one's choosing. I was thinking of painting on New Orleans/Mardi Gras colors: purple, gold, and green.

It's fun to make beautiful art from garbage. :)
