18. We have lost a lot of brass during **'s tenure. Not that it matters, he
never listens to the people with actual soldiering experience anyway. *sigh*

6. I mentioned something similar to this in a thread after the
repug in NYC last year but no one responded to it then. So, I'll mention it again now.

I thought that it should have been a strong clue to active duty and retired military people that something might be afoot when several RETIRED high ranking military officers were on stage in a show of support for John Kerry on the last night of the Democratic Convention.

Maybe Gen. Byrnes was the high-ranking active duty officer that could make something happen. As a TRADOC Commander, he and his staff would have been recognizable to and have influence over several thousands of young troops.

But, the repugs couldn't even get "Stormin'" Norman Schwarzkopff to throw his support behind * in the last election. I discounted *'s support by Tommy Franks and "Dirty" Sanchez completely since they were already afflicted with enough bad judgement to give a greenlight to such an ill-planned invasion.

Anyway, the situation screamed out to me last year, but I must have been the only one listening.

17. Thanks for the research, WesDem.......
I'm going to file this link for future reference, cause I couldn't find any reference regarding these folks.

I was beginning to think that maybe I had imagined it all or something.

But then again, I never thought I'd see the day when the United States of America would start a war.

14. No tin foil reason necessary for a purge
If they're getting rid of the non-compliant senior officers, they don't need some black helicopter nonsense to go about it.

They do need to get rid of people and discredit them if possible so they look like "disgruntled employees" before the next real move (Iran?)

16. The Plot to Assassinate Hitler, July 20, 1944
Hitler never trusted the professional army officers. His disdain came about because of the poor generalship in World War I that killed millions of German soldiers. He was always worried that the Army would attempt a coup de état and try to take over the government.

In 1934, as a result of the Night of Long Knives, he removed the SA, essentially a gang of thugs that had brought him to power, and killed their leader, Ernst Röhm. In exchange for removing the SA, the Army signed an oath of allegiance to Hitler.

As the losses mounted in late 1943 and early 1944, Hitler replaced or forced many generals into retirement and the Army high Command, except for those officers in Hitler’s personal orbit, grew openly critical of his constant meddling.

Oberst Claus Schenk, Count von Stauffenberg lost his left hand and fingers from his right fighting in Tunisia. As a member of the aristocracy, he had double contempt for Hitler, and joined the plot to kill him. General Ludwig Beck, Chief of Staff back in 1938, was the nominal leader.
