Wolcott has nailed the hopelessness of liberals who bend over backwards
to be nice, while the Neocons keep doing whatever it takes to march us into
Facism while continuing to successfully shame Democrats into apologizing.
SARCASM ALERT
http://www.jameswolcott.comThis being Saturday, the day before Sunday, I have decided to lay down my
blood-stained cleaver and foster dialogue and understanding between the
warring tribes of the blogosphere. There's no reason why Jeff Jarvis should
be the only roving ambassador of peace in these strife-torn times. I, too,
wish to do my part.

Take that NARAL attack ad against Supreme Court nominee John Roberts,
for example. I understand NARAL's passion, and the frustration many feel
over the Swift Boat Vets ads. But do we really want to sink to "their" level?

That's why I hope that Cindy Sheehan doesn't get led astray by all this
publicity and go too far. No one doubts her pain, sorrow, sincerity, and
commitment. But I worry that if she insists on staying in Crawford, Texas to
meet the president again, Camp Casey might attracts all sorts of
"undesirable elements" that could damage her cause and provoke a column
from Richard Cohen of the Washington Post arguing she's in danger of losing
her "credibility." And I think that we would all agree that when it comes to
being the conscience of journalistic liberalism inside the Beltway, no one has
a nattier beard than Richard Cohen.

I'm worried too about the mean-spirited way Democrats and journalists are
going after the Senatorial candidacy of Jeanine Pirro. Everyone enjoys a
hearty laugh, and the late Norman Cousins demonstrated through personal
experience that laughter can be the best medicine, but some laughter is
mocking and cruel. Today I was reading this item in the New York Daily
News that made me fret that maybe Hillary Clinton's supporters are going
too far.
