Notes from Camp Casey (Sunday nite)

Just had a long phone report from "theHandpuppet", a DUer from West Virginia who has been at Camp Casey this weekend.

She shared many impressions, many wonderful experiences meeting people from all over the country. Hopefully, she'll post her own detailed account of the weekend upon her return, but for now she wanted to highlight two ways in which DU members can support the Crawford Peace House.

1) Newspapers are difficult to get in Crawford (as is much of anything), so please send them clippings of news reports about Cindy Sheehan and the Crawford Peace House!

2) People have been very generous sending supplies, but not every need can be anticipated and the increasing number of visitors has meant increasing expenses for the Peace House. theHandpuppet says the Peace House has a strong need for petty cash so they can hand someone some dollars and just send them to the next town for supplies.

The guys who have been running the shuttles from the Peace House to Camp Casey are paying for gas out of their pocket, and you can imagine what the AC bills must be in the blistering Texas heat.

So show your support in a tangible way and keep the Peace House operational!

6. I was trolling around Freeperville...

and they are planning to mail Monopoly Cash, dollar bills with "Hanoi John" Kerry's picture, bricks with pennies taped to them, you get the idea, anything to disrupt financial help.

If someone here at DU is in direct contact with Peace House, they might want to warn them. I would email them myself, but according to the web page, they are being deluged, and I'm afraid they wouldn't see it in time.

What a pathetic group they are over there. I can understand why Smirk is their hero.
