And I can't help but believe that he would have sent a car for her the very first day. Of course there would have been no chance of agreement and resolution. But it would have been over. Reagan would have spoken to her, and of course Clinton would have as well (see below.) Any halfway-decent "politician" with skillz would talk to her. Let her complain, act humble, speak your piece, etc.

But Bush and his handlers know they CAN'T send Bush out there. Forget what she might say. Just because she might not call him "Mr. President" or "Sir" in every sentence. He'd lose it. Go ballistic on her. Let out his inner asshole that always lies uncomfortably close to the surface.

As formidale as Cindy is, I could see Reagan pulling some Dark Side with-a-smile verbal jujitsu on her and make HER look bad. Bush will just curse her in private and have to hope she eventually goes away.
