Conyers: Write 1000 letters to Local Media and the Crawford-Area Papers
Easy way to compose a message and select a media outlet is provided by John Conyers at http://johnconyers.com/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC=%7B142AA5F1-BC9F-4438-BB41-3926D3DCEDE5%7D

WRITE YOUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER IN SUPPORT OF CINDY SHEEHAN

Cindy Sheehan has waited a long time for answers from the President. Answers to questions about the Downing Street Minutes, about the real reasons for war in Iraq, and to what end was her son asked to sacrifice his life. Right now Mrs. Sheehan is staging a vigil outside the president's house on a sun-baked dusty road in Crawford, Texas waiting for Bush to talk to her and offer a real explanation for why we are in Iraq.

Cindy is prepared to wait as long as it takes for the President to meet with her. Write to your local papers expressing why you think Bush should meet with Cindy.

Perhaps DU itself could write and get published 1000 letters? Is the activist group up to this?

mine was printed in the Towanda Daily Review last Saturday August 13

To the Editor:

Cindy Sheehan is my hero. One mother of one dead soldier asking the commander in chief to explain his actions and his changing story. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why Karl Rove hasn't sent the President or at least Mrs. Bush down the road from their vacation home to meet with Cindy Sheehan. Maybe Rove is too busy covering his tracks on the CIA leak scandal to have noticed that there is something happening in Crawford, Texas. Maybe the President is too busy bike riding or working out on his 5 week vacation to take time to sit for 10 minutes with this mother who has given the ultimate sacrifice for her county - her son Casey. Maybe, just maybe she has hit a nerve in a country that seems to have been frozen in fear for far too long.
