How popular is Bill Clinton now? How much of that will spill onto Hillary?

I've heard people say how much they loved Bill, and then say that they'd love also to vote for Hillary.

I'm thinking that folks who say such things aren't really the wonkish types who log every vote or even pay tons of attention.

So, my question is, how many people do you think will vote for Hillary because they have warm fuzzy memories of the Clinton presidency?

who is somewhat paying attention, but doesn't have his/her nose in this stuff nearly as much as you or I.

Like a social worker who voted for Bush, who should have known better, but liked the way he talked about terrorism.

Someone like that. Obviously if she was REALLY paying attention, she wouldn't have voted for Bush, because she doesn't have a job now BECAUSE of Bush. But she just LOVED Clinton.

5. Try, if you can, to put yourself in the shoes of an average American

one who liked Clinton, vaguely remembers Hillary fondly, who doesn't pay attention to this stuff vote by vote.

Because I've already met more folks than your 0005% would indicate exist.

The presidential campaign, of course, will be worse.

4. If Hillary promises to lead like Bill, she'll be a formidable candidate

People do remember how well the country was doing during his Presidency. Hillary can capitalize on that if she proposes policies that take us back to Bill's track. If she tries to distance herself, like Gore did, she'll lose to the Repug.

She can get a majority if she credibly makes the case she can bring back the Clinton prosperity. It won't be because of warm fuzzies, it'll be because of the great policies.

and talk to people around here, who maybe aren't as far to the left, and maybe aren't watching things vote by vote, that there are several out there who seem to rather like Hillary.

She may have more of a chance than I've been giving her credit for. Not that this makes me happy, mind you. But I'm just trying to look at things objectively.
