While it is heartening to see quite a few now-former-Republicans writing in protest letters due to their frustration at the high gas prices, I am still utterly dumbfounded by authors who are members of lower-to-middle income families who voted for Bush. I mean, what were they thinking? Now these authors dislike policies that result in oil profits for big corporations, tax breaks for the rich, less/more expensive benefits for the lower and middles classes.....did these people not know who they were voting for?

It amazes me that after his 2000 appointment to office that anyone would expect him to now show some integrity, courage, compassion, empathy or wisdom. I was even turned down for a job as a teacher's aide because I am not bilingual. I am currently pursuing an elementary/special education degree in which I will graduate in December 2006. I would not be at all surprised if I am turned down for a teaching job because I am still not bilingual.
