Study shows 'Masculinity Challenged Men' Prefer War and SUVs
HAHAHAHA! Nothing we didn't already know but it's still nice to see it validated by a Cornell University study....

Men whose masculinity is challenged become more inclined to support war or buy an SUV, a new study finds.

Their attitudes against gays change, too.

Cornell University researcher Robb Willer used a survey to sample undergraduates. Participants were randomly assigned feedback that indicated their responses were either masculine of feminine.

The women had no discernable reaction to either type of feedback in a follow-up survey.

But the guys' reactions were "strongly affected," Willer said today.

"I found that if you made men more insecure about their masculinity, they displayed more homophobic attitudes, tended to support the Iraq war more and would be more willing to purchase an SUV over another type of vehicle," said Willer said. "There were no increases for other types of cars."

Those who had their masculinity threatened also said they felt more ashamed, guilty, upset and hostile than those whose masculinity was confirmed, he said.

1. So, if I'm against war and have never driven an SUV?
that means I don't feel inadequate, right?

Every model was touted as having more power than the competition. And here we sit watching the gas pump readings blur befor our eyes.
Someone here quipped that when he filled his old pickup truck it's value was became double the bluebook.

5. And they don't like cats...
My husband is a construction worker (complete with toolbelt) who works around our farm on weekends and days off. At a glance, he would appear to be your standard Billy Bob southern good ole boy. Only he doesn't hunt, is rabidly anti-war (worse than me), hates Republicans and is looking into a hybrid car. I have to confess that he does drive an F350 deisel truck, but that's because he needs it for work and we use it to pull our horse trailer.

Oh, and he likes cats. I have this theory that secure men like cats. Insecure men are dog people. It takes a secure person to like a pet that will eat you if you drop dead.

9. Or, secure men are animal lovers, period.
* is afraid of horses. They probably read his evil character, and react badly to him, so he is, in turn, frightened of them.

All animals like my husband. Our dog loves both of us, but our cat likes him best.

12. Nah...
The reason he probably doesn't like horses is that except for being on the wrong end of the food chain, they really are a bit like 1200 pound cats. Horses are really "What have you done for me lately?" They are like cats in that respect. Horses don't worship; they tolerate. Hell, cats don't even do that much.

22. Oh, very good! I've been telling my friends for years,
if a man doesn't like cats, he won't appreciate an independent woman. There's a lot to be learned about a man when you find out his attitude toward cats.
