No ... I'm not saying Mrs. Sheehan is contorted. I *am* saying that her actions are being contorted ... by the media, by the right, and even by some who claim to be with us.

First ..... 'will Cindy's protest backfire on the Democrats'? Well .... is she a Democrat? I think I recall her saying she voted for idiot son. Whether or not she's a Democrat is, in fact, immaterial. She's a private citizen doing what she feels she needs to do. If camp followers have joined her bandwagon, so be it. But at its essence, she is but one person.

Second ..... while she may be a 'peace mom' or a 'mom camped out near the praysident's 'ranch' wanting to speak with him', let's get it straight as to what she is. She is a GOLD STAR MOTHER. Her son is DEAD. He died with HONOR. She's going to be paying the price of admission to the Gold Star Mother's club for the rest of her life. GOLD STAR MOTHERs trump EVERY FUCKING THING. PERIOD. And when a Gold Star Mother asks for one fucking hour of some shithead's FIVE WEEK VACATION, she deserves it. Period.

Third ...... She's 'part of the Moveon dot Org crowd.' Really? Who approached who? She's a GOLD STAR MOTHER. See above.

And where are the Democratic leaders in all this? No one has to agree with everything they say she's saying. All ANY Dem needs to do is go to Crawford, keep a low profile, meet with her *privately*, and then say he/she agrees that if Mrs. Sheehan wants to speak to her son's former boss - Mrs. Sheehan, the GOLD STAR MOTHER - that her request should be granted. See, elected Dems? You can support the essence of what she's doing, run from any controversy that may arise from her actions, and look like a fucking leader.

Let's keep our eye on the ball.

He was in her face, asking if she considered herself a radical: "you said the president is a terrorist, you spoke out for the Palenstinians". Also mentioned her alignment with "far left liberal groups" (as if it's a bad thing).
