So, there was no Al Qaeda connection to the London bombings. What does that do to the yarn about Osama bin Laden's "sleeper cells," "franchises" and "foot soldiers" in the West waiting to be activated?

Are they still about? Is all that "software of Al-Qaeda-ism planted in their heads" still ticking?

We don't know. Nor do our ostensible experts.

The dozen or so people apprehended for the bombings came from varied ethnic backgrounds — Pakistani, Jamaican, Eritrean, Ethiopian and Somali.

Where does that leave the received wisdom that terrorists are incubated in Saudi and Pakistani madrassas propagating Wahhabi doctrine? Do Kingston, Asmara and Addis Ababa have such schools? Do London and Leeds?
