How do conservatives support the troops?

- Volunteer to be pallbearers?
- Wave the flag with more gusto?
- Sing at the funerals of servicemembers?
- Shop at Wal-Mart?
- Cut down on cholesterol?

Just how the fuck do the constitution hating bastards "support" our troops. I'd like something tangible. Please members of free republic, share with us just exactly what the fuck you DO to support the troops. I'm a veteran and the only thing I see you doing is enabling the monster in the white house to get more of our kids killed. You fuck up everything you involve yourselves with and are too ignorant and full of fake pride to realize it.

3. same question
I've had this same discussion with many of my woefully uninformed (read-bushies) co-workers. I've asked why they think they've cornered the market on supporting the troops. They've told me that they support the troops by supporting their commander in chief. For some reason they think that the terrorists of the world (wherever they may be) will feel empowered by the fact that us lefties don't support bush.

8. Wow....
Ask 'em this: if you support the president, then you support the troops. The follow-up with Clinton's War w/ Milosavitch.

5. It is implied that if they don't protest it, that's enough.
If they say nothing about it and pretend that it isn't happening, then, like bush, they are supporting it.

17. Bingo, Casual
The head-in-the-sand trick, absolutely. To further illustrate just how much they do not care, look at this quote. It is so typical.

And how do you like this typical Republican attitude?

Representative Thomas M. Reynolds of New York, chairman of the Republican Congressional campaign committee, said he believed that the war would fade as an issue by next year and that even if it did not the elections would, as is typically the case, be decided by local issues. "I'm not concerned," Mr. Reynolds said. "Fifteen months away is a long time, and I don't see it. It's going to get back to the important issues of what's going on in the district. When it gets down to candidates, it's what's going on in the street that matters."

Amazing, isn't it? Going to get back to the 'important' issues, the war will fade as an issue?
Scum.

10. Well....you asked LOL
My child goes to a christian private school and I'd guess that most there are Bush supporters. Nothing overt but just a guess. LOL

Yesterday, my child's homework assignment was to copy a letter for the troops. She's in 1st grade so this was really more of a penmanship exercise and the letter was very general. Basically..."thank you for your service" and nothing about the war or politics. I didn't really have a problem with it because it was so general.

In addition to the homework assignment, a flyer came home with all the students. Apparently, another child at the school has a brother being deployed to Iraq this month and they were taking up collections at the school to send over with the troops in his unit. It was called "Comforts from home". Candy, chapstick, books, etc.

13. Outstanding action
but you don't have to be a conservative to send chapstick to our troops and chapstick ain't gonna keep them from getting killed. A change in policy is what is needed to really support our troops.

15. By overlooking the facts that Jesus Lord Bush ...
1. Tried to cut VA funding next year by almost a billion dollars in a time of war, while giving tax handouts to his billionaire cronies.

2. Tried to roll back modest increases in combat pay. The irony - Bush did everything to avoid combat and then tries to fuck those who are there because of him.

3. Abandoned the mission in Afghanistan, where the enemy was located, because of his corporate overlords wanted to sit on the Iraqi oil.

4. Started an unnecessary and bloody quagmire in Iraq that is sending home planeloads of coffins.

Republicans overlook these things so they can be stupidly loyal to their party. They like to watch war on tv. It is the only thing in thier miserable lives that gives them pride - seeing the American military dominate a 3rd-world country.

STOP ACTING LIKE FUCKING BROWNSHIRTS YOU FUCKING MORONS. YOU ARE BEING LIED TO BY A BUNCH OF CORPORATE ELITE AND IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO WAKE UP!!

It really isn't that difficult to know the facts, is it? Have you ever been to Avery Island, Louisiana, home of Tabasco Sauce? Lovely place and educational.

18. No, but I lived in Patterson for two years.
I am an honorary coonass.

I will be going to NO again someday, and when I do I will plan a sidetrip to Avery Island. I heard it was real nice.

Man the food down there was great! Boudin, dirty rice, jambalaya, gumbo, and all with lots of hot sauce!
